With Open Arms

He had touched Apollo.

He touched and he fell.

He was falling. Icarus was bracing himself for his eventual death. His plummet. He knew it was coming. Just a mere moments away and the last thing he remembered was looking at Apollo. His Apollo.

The last thing he remembered was Apollo touching him. So he was more than ready for the impact with the ocean water and his upcoming unavoidable death. He closed his eyes.

And waited for it. Waited and waited. But it never came.

Instead he felt something strong catching him. No, not the ocean. But something strong and firm.

He slowly opened his eyes and looked directly into the eyes of Apollo. He couldn't believe his eyes. For a moment he thought he was dreaming. But then he realised that he was very much alive.

Apollo had cushioned his fall. Apollo had caught him. His Apollo had saved him. He was lying in Apollo’s strong muscular arms. His Apollo, the man he loved was looking down at him with tears in his eyes.

“Why did you do that? “ Apollo asked him.

"Do what?"

"Fly so high.", Apollo answered.

“I wanted to touch you", Icarus answered back.

”But you could have died “

”I know”.

”You were melting “

”I know. ”

"And still you flew higher just so you could touch me”

" Yes". Apollo couldn't believe Icarus' nonchalant answer.

"But you melted when I touched you !", Apollo said incredulously.

“Some people are worth melting for." Apollo smiled through his tears hearing that.

“And you saved me.", Icarus said matter-of-factly

“Yes I did”

“Why? ”

“Because nobody has melted so happily for me before “

“But what if I want to fly again? What if I fall again? “

“If you fly again, don't worry about the fall. I'll always be there with open arms."

"Really?"

"Yes, I'll catch you every time you fall."

“Then I don't mind falling if it means I get to fly again “

“ Because I'll always be there… “

“..with open arms. I know."
