Chapter One
Aadya's POV
All my life I knew I was different, that I didn't fit in. I found it hard to concentrate in school, making friends was never easy. I'm known as the school outcast, the freak, the town's greatest shame. I just keep my head down, to get through the day. I always found it easier when the silver moon rises. Like there is a secret power in me, getting stronger every night. I stay awake looking up at great silver orb hoping I can change my fate
Life at home has been difficult. Dad spends most of his time having sex with most of the town, where as mum is a drunk. And then there is me the unwanted child, their greatest mistake. Though my father does love me in his own way, my mother clearly does not. She always finds time to put me down, making me out to be the town slut. When my dad isn't around and she is completely drunk she sometimes uses me as a punching bag, taking her insecurities out on me like it's my fault somehow
Most of the time I stay in my room away from my parents and their drama. Most nights I can hear them arguing, things being thrown. When the augments get too loud, I open my window and jump on the closent tree and stair at the moon, like it can take away all my problems. Sometimes I will stay out there on the tree all night in the safety of it glow. Maybe one day something will change my destiny and I will be free from being this towns greatest disappointment.

The trip to my locker was a painful one. Students were pushing and shoving past me as if they can't see me, like I'm invisible. When I finally got to my locker I felt someone's hand on my head, slamming me head first into my locker. "Well look who it is? The slut's daughter." The voice sneered. I know that voice it's Chloe and her little gang, she has been tormenting ever since she caught her mother with my dad. It almost broke their family and yet I'm the one to blame.
"What do you want Chloe." I heard her laughter behind me as she digs her perfect manicure nails into my scalp. She pushed down on my head as she lean closer to my ear. "Well I had to come and have my fun and to remind you what a worthless little bitch you are." I'm suddenly being turned around so that I'm facing her. Chloe is what you call a typical Barbie doll, with her blond hair and bright pink lipstick and fake as they come.
she put her hand on my left shoulder, making sure to dig her pink nails. "You do know that right, your worthless and pathetic. No one wants you here. I mean come on not even you parents want you, that's why they are never home and who can blame them with a daughter like you." With that she punches me in the stomach and smashes my head against my locker. Pain erupts through my temple as my head hits the lock of my locker. As I crumple to the ground Chloe spits at me "See you around slut." Grinning she leaves with her little gang laughing as they walk away.
Getting up off the floor, clutching my stomach I get of the floor. Dizziness field my vision as I lean against my locker waiting for it to clear. Wiping the spit off my face I got my books out of my locker and walked to the girls bathroom. Thankfully there is no one in there. I go to the mirror and turn the tap on. I look in the mirror and what stared back at me was someone I grew to recognise. My light blue eyes once held life now are dull and lifeless. Dark circles under my eyes that only seem to appear during the day. First I was shocked at how bad my appearance was getting my now, I'm used to it.
Cupping my hand I put them under the ice cold water, throwing it on my face. When I looked up backed up to the mirror and froze. Panic spread threw out my body, I tied to keep the shaking to a minimum. When I looked in the mirror there is someone standing behind me, covered by the shadows. What made me panic even more is that I don't recognize the person cloaked by shadows. "Who are you?" I manage to keep my voice from cracking. When I heard no reply I turn to face the stranger, but there is no one there. It was if he was never there to begin with. It made me question was he even there to begin with.
The sound of first period bell snapped me out of my thoughts. Not wanting to get detention and fear the wrath of my mother, I raced to my first lesson. I sit in my set at the back next to the window. Wanting to pass the time I got my old sketch pad out of my bag and start sketching. It wasn't long till my teacher Miss Miller enter the classroom and began her lesson. Ignoring all of the sniggering and giggles that are being thrown my way, I carried on with my sketch.
Half of the lesson flew by when I start getting the feeling that I'm getting being watched. Looking around the room I couldn't find the source. I turn to my right and looked out of the window. What I saw sent chills through my body, there stood under the tree was the stranger from the bathroom. heart beating fast and breaths coming out as pants, fear to over my body and I can't look away from the stranger. I don't know how long I sat there staring at the stranger, it could of been a few seconds or a few minutes. It wasn't till someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turn to see who it was, and its Miss Miller "Is everything ok Aadya?" I nod my head "Yes Miss." She nodded just once before she moved to the next student. I look back out of the window and just as I suspected he wasn't there. A weird feeling came over me, that maybe I know who that person is.
