While my cousin was busy cleaning up the rest of World War II, I spent my time little Liesel after lost everything and had to learn to live again. Granted, she wasn't little anymore. Experiencing the deaths of those you love makes a little girl into a young woman overnight. Much like her new foster mom, she became reserved and tucked herself away in the library.

I couldn't save her friends and family, and sometimes she even curses me, screaming and sobbing in the night for my cousin to take her like they did everyone else she loved. Much like he dead father, Ilsa Hermann would come in and sit by her, whispering about worlds she'd read books about. It took years for her to learn I am not to be feared. I couldn't do anything but watch as she began to look at the world like she had before. With wonder and wide eyes.

She, Alex Steiner, and Max grew closer to one another throughout her development and acceptance of me. Her grief was their grief. Her denial. Her anger. Her bargaining. Her depression. Her acceptance. Please, let me take you through her Stages of Grief. Let me take on the journey of afterwards. After the bombing, the funeral, and the reunion. Let me show you that the rest of little Liesel's life.
