Once in a Blood Moon

Chapter 1: Oceanside Cliff

It is now daytime at Oka Academy. The wind is light and warm with the smell of garden roses in the air. Vampires are asleep and werewolves and humans are out and about, going to their daily classes and enjoying their days. I yawn and head outside. I cannot sleep, this dormitory is rather unsettling. Or perhaps it might be some jet lag. Who knows. I walk to the forest in my white gown and bare feet. I love the feeling of grass between my toes, makes me feel like my heart beats. I soon reach the end of the forest and walk towards a cliff. Seagulls are screeching in the air looking for food. "Ah... the smell of the ocean." I sit on the edge of the cliff and look down at the bright clear waters under me. "You know, it is quite rude to stare at a lady but never speak to her." I smirk and look behind me as the werewolf comes out of his hiding in the trees. "You have excellent senses princess, I only thought you were good at being snobby". I smiled, "You pack dogs seem to know to sniff well, so what do you want?" He gave me a questionable look, one I could not figure out. I stood up as he walked toward me, judging me silently. I stood at the edge of a cliff as he seemed to sniff me. "Do I smell good to you?" He was silent. Finally after a few minutes, he looked up at me and said, "Why are you so sad? So angry?" My eyes welled up and turned bloody red. "Do not analyze me, you moron." "Is that all you got?" He seemed to know so much about me just from my scent. Should I let him get away with this? The thought is cut short as we heard a distant singing coming from the beach. He looks at me and then looks at the beach. "Sirens...who are they hunting today?" I am amazed he does not get seduced by their songs, maybe he is an alpha. "My name is Ruby Scarlet Valentine. But you can call me Ruby I suppose." "I'm Jack Goro Radcliffe. You can call me daddy." I give him a stern, unimpressed look.  "My bad... you can call me Jack." He rubs his head awkwardly. I turn away from him and smile, giggling quietly. It was rather funny and unexpected. "Well Jack, the Radcliffe pack has my condolences. I am sorry for the loss of your mother." He looks sullen. "I'll see you later Ruby." I watch him disappear into the forest. "I should call this a day." I say as I look over the Oceanside Cliff one last time.

                                                                   ~Vampire Dormitory~

I walk back into the dark, cool dormitory and head to my room. Walking in, I see Coraline sitting on my bed, looking angry. "Where were you Ruby?" she questions me. "I was outside, couldn't sleep." "I was so worried about you! You never go outside during the day. What's gotten into you?" "Did I not just say I couldn't sleep? Do not get on my nerves Coraline I do not need your nagging." I shut her down pretty quickly. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a flask of blood and drank it in one gulp. The bloodthirst is getting to me, Royals need more than just a flask of blood, we need a gallon or two at least. "I know I know...Sebastion did not send us with more and I don't think he will now." I peer at Coraline "He is a royal pain in the ass. I need more Coraline. More!" My voice thunders throughout the dormitory. I pant and fall to the ground, gagging and choking on my life. "Ruby!"
