Welcoming Ceremony

I look around the whole dimly lit auditorium, at the hundreds of new pale faces. " Are these all seriously vampires? I haven't seen so many ever since my family all got murdered by humans..." I look at Coraline and rub her head. " Humans do things like that out of fear for their own extinction, I could wipe out their whole race if they dare to cross paths with me." This is not a very comforting thing to say but, it is the truth. A vampire with high status can cast a series of dark spells. In high society, vampire children are taught dark magic early so they use all their lifetime to master it. Coraline's family has been slaughtered when she was young, so my family took care of her like their own. I was never allowed to meet her until I turned 160 though. We have been close friends for 30 years now. This academy is fairly large, 3 dormitories and one building for all the classes, day and night. I look over to the day dormitories and I see a pack of wolves. "Must be the Werewolf Academy of Resilience" I say, scoffing at the sight of the mutts. We sit down at the top rows in the auditorium and look down at the stage where the headmaster and mistresses are speaking to the whole school. I look down at my dress and zone out.
                                       ~Nighttime~
Caroline and I have taken the time to get to know our classes better. I cannot say the same about our classmates. All they have done is lounge around and stare at us, not saying anything at all. But who am I to want their curtsy. We are at our last class of the day, Vampire Hunter History. Here, we are taught what pain vampires had to deal with in their lives of being the prey. Ever since the vampire hunters showed up in the human world, we were pushed out and made our own realm. The Dark realm where any creature of the night can flourish. However, we do not all get along. I stare out of the window I'm sitting next to, almost ignoring the blabbering of the professor. I see a werewolf pack outside, snooping around the night dormitories. One of them catches my eye, a silver werewolf with scars all over, a mysterious sight. I get up from my seat and excuse myself, saying I really needed to use the ladies room. I walked outside and stalked them for some time, to see what these scoundrels want. "Now now, don't vampires die from garlic or somethin?", I overhear one of them say. I step out of the shadows and laugh. "Garlic? You mangy mutts really do not have a couple of brain cells to spare now don't you?". I seem to have struck a nerve as I watch them growl at me. The silver one looks at me and says, "Pretty girl, high society are you? My boys and I were just leaving. But I'd watch my mouth if I were you missy." I snicker, "And I would watch my tail if I were you, darling, you do not want to get bit". I watch them walk away, exchanging angry glances. The silver werewolf stares at me for a few seconds, then proceeds to leave. I sigh and walk back to class. I have a feeling that will not be the last time I see him.
