I have to admit, I am a slight bit worried that I ad opted that dog. I really wanted one, so I got to pick one out. The problem is, I picked the one that was blind in one eye. I knew no one would ever pick him.
" Ava, if you get this dog, you realize that he could easily become blind in both eyes, and there is nothing much we can do to help that," my Dad had said. I was a little worried, but still. My bleeding heart got the best of me. Every dog deserves a forever home!
" I know," I had said. " But if I don't adopt him, who will?" So we adopted him, and named him Rocko.
I decided to make sure Rocko was doing okay, so I went to find him. I found him downstairs, sleeping on the floor. When I felt him, he felt cold, so I picked him up and brough thim upstairs. And, wow! Was he heavy! By the time I got to the top, My breath was coming out in quick gasps. About halfway up the stairs, Rocko woke up and started squirming around. Wow! My first full day with him! I wanted to make it special, so I dug into a pile of toys I bought the night we got this precious furball.
I decided to see if Rocko would like his stuff squirel, so I threw it around a bit.
"Is that normal?" I joke, right as my mom was walking in. With one look at the vicous dog that was tearing apart the squirrel, we both can't help laughing. I have forgotten all my doubts, swept away like a speck of sand in high tide. It will be a challenge looking over a blind dog, but I would make his life count. Rocko is the kind of dog that would play with you all day, then snugge in with you at night. I know he has a big heart, waiting to love someone, but he wouldn't get to love somebody in that shelter.
Soon Rocko was pushing his toy toward me, waiting for me to grab it. "Play with me, play with me!" His happy yelps seemed to say. I started laughing, then grabbed the toy.
