As soon as Thanatos arrived at The Grayfang Pack and opened the car door the first smell to hit him was the sweet, tangy copper aroma of blood. Thanatos inhaled deeply and felt death in the air. He could feel the hair on the back of his head stand at attention while a small shiver went down his spine. This was pure bliss. He was immediately taken out of his trance when he heard the slamming of the car door. Thanatos saw the little Alpha run towards the back of the packed house.

"CHARIS!" The Alpha cried, and Thanatos had to stifle a growl, the whole ride down here that damn kid was jumping up and down with anxiety. It was annoying to Thanatos especially when he realized he couldn't kill the idiot; his orders were to bring the girl.

If he really starts getting on my nerves, I could just frame the little girl for the murder of her ex-mate. Thanatos thought darkly, an evil smirk playing on his lips. He began walking towards the back of the house when he stopped in his tracks. Thanatos stared at the bodies on the ground; most were scattered on the ground clutching a bleeding wound or moaning in agony. Thanatos walked over them, completely ignoring their cries for help. The Alpha who had just stood there in shock began to follow Thanatos. He walked over to the girl covered in blood, kneeling and looking down at a dead man who had a gruesome cut in his neck that was still gushing up blood. She looked up at the approaching men, and her eyes narrowed at the Alpha behind Thanatos who was too busy trying not to faint at the sight of the injured wolves. She stood up.

"What the hell are you doing here!" She screamed, tears running down her face.

And here comes the drama. Where the hell is some popcorn when you need it. Thanatos thought bitterly moving to the side.

"I came...to see if you were okay?" The Alpha said pathetically.

"Am I okay!? AM. I. OKAY?" the girl screamed hysterically, "NO! I'm not fucking okay!! I found out my mate's death was a setup and then my father was murdered right in front of me!"

"Charis....I.." He didn't get to finish before Charis stormed over to him and punched him in the face, staining his skin with blood.

"This. Is. Your fault. Xander." Charis hissed.

"You rejected her! You planned my mate's death! YOU DID THIS!" She cried banging on his chest. Xander did nothing to stop her. Bored with the overdramatic Thanatos began to look around. He saw something shine in the ground by the dead man's feet. He moved to pick it up, bullets. Thanatos looked over to the dead man but saw no entry or exit wounds. He brought the round to his mouth. It still had blood on it, he sniffed it and gave a dark chuckle.

"How many times?" Thanatos asked Charis looked up started, her eyes puffy from crying.

"I'm sorry?" She asked, and Thanatos growled in frustration before stalking over to her. She shook in fear, and he reveled in it.

"You will be sorry if you make me repeat myself. Fair warning." He hissed at her. Charis stared at him with wide eyes. Thanatos held up the bullet, and her eyes darted to the silver bullet.

"Five times...she was shot five times" she whispered, and Thanatos looked down at the body.

"She's taken at least twenty rounds...bet you she didn't even scream." Xander sarcastically said, and Thanatos and Charis looked at him.

"Her father liked to...put her in her place...I mean you saw her cell." Xander sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.

"She had a cell?" Charis asked horrified, putting a hand to her mouth. Thanatos rolled his eyes.

"She did this?" He asked gesturing to the men on the ground his eyes landing on the dead man.

"Yes...I can't believe it...she was coughing up blood and looked paler than death. She couldn't even stand properly. She was skin and bones." Thanatos snapped his eyes to Charis.

"You talked to her?" Thanatos asked, and Charis nodded.

"Out of nowhere, she showed up in my room and..." she trailed off

"What?" Thanatos growled, Charis flinched

"She showed me the contract our fathers made. She had that as well" Charis said, jerking her head towards the house. Thanatos walked over to see a small leather-bound book.

"So she doesn't know much about herself?" Thanatos chuckled. Luring her to him would be too easy. But he would have to find her quickly.

"What else did she say?" Thanatos demanded.

"She just showed me the file...and...she listened to me when I talked about my mate." Thanatos could tell she was hiding something.

"What else?" He sneered.

"She wanted to know what I was going to do with the information," Charis muttered looking at the ground. She looked back at Xander who had a look of betrayal on his worthless face.

"Which way did she go?" Thanatos asked, and Charis pointed the way they had come from. The opposite direction of where her scent was leading to. Before anyone could blink, Thanatos had the girl's throat in his grip, her eyes popping as she tried to claw at his hands.

"That was a test," he growled, " And you failed." He threw her towards the house, and she landed in a heap her head bleeding. He wiped his hands and went towards Xander, who flinched and moved his eyes to the ground.

"Keys." He growled, and Xander handed him the keys to the car before running to check on the girl. Thanatos watched as the blood ran down her face to her shirt, he pulled out a cigarette and lighter. After lighting his cigarette, he bent down to the body and ignited the lighter, watching the body go up in flames. He turned around and went towards the car. He drove down the road making sure to have the window down in case he caught the girl's scent. Frustrated he punched the car's stereo, wrecking it.

It turns out I need to find her quickly Thanatos thought

Why? A small voice weakly asked.

She's too weak to handle the souls...she's going to die soon. But I will not let that happen.

I will deny this girl death... after all, the King's plans are much too exciting to let a mere child ruin.
