Waver was stunned into silence. This was understandable, considering his situation. He planned to summon Alexander the Great, one of the most powerful heroes of all time, and instead, he got a pink haired girl holding a lantern.
His life was just great, wasn't it?
"So... are you sure that you're my master?" The two were sitting at a small diner. A thick smell of oil penetrated the air, and everything felt greasy. Waver shied away from his servant, who was spurting food everywhere as she ate scrambled eggs.
"Yes." Waver drew himself up so that he was taller than the pinkette. "Who are you?" The servant looked confused for a moment.
"Huh? Didn't you summon me on purpose?" Waver shook his head regretfully. "Okay then." The girl stood up, her lantern pointing at the roof. The hatch opened, and flames spurted out. The lantern arched down, and Waver had to cover his face in order to avoid being signed.
"All right!" The servant began to spin the lantern in a complicated motion as she spun. "My name is Kimial Diehl, but you can call me Kim. And..." Kim tossed the lantern in the air, and Waver tried not to yell. Kim could set the place on fire.
Just as Waver stood up, ready to take action, the lantern glowed pink and transformed into a brunette girl wearing the same clothes as Kim.
"I'm Jacqueline O' Lantern. Please excuse the behaviour of my meister.""...meister?" In all of his readings, Waver had never come across the word.
"She wields me while I'm in weapon form." Waver furrowed his brow again.
"...weapon form?" Kim sighed.
"Yeah, ya know. The lantern?"
"Oh, right, right." For a minute, the three were silent. Waver picked at his burned burger and Kim attacked her scrambled eggs. Eventually, Waver felt ready to talk again.
"So..." Waver bit his lip and stared at the table, "You are rider, right?" Kim grinned. If Waver had known her for longer, he would be running away at this point.
"Do you want a demonstration?"
Five minutes later, Jacqueline was in lamp form, and Waver and Kim sat on her."Kim," Waver began, "Maybe this isn't ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The lantern had let loose a burst of fire that sent the three hurtling into the air.
"Hey, Master," Kim said, completely cool, "I think that this ride will cost about ten dollars."
Waver's response was more screaming.
When the master and servant touched ground again, Waver fell on the ground and kissed it.
"Oh, ground, how I've missed you," he murmured. He looked up, and his gaze fell upon Kim. "You!" he accusingly exclaimed. "Do you want to kill me?" Kim had the presence of mind to look bashful.
"Well, if you have a weak stomach..." Waver's face was turning a deep purple.
"You could have killed me!" He jabbed a finger at Kim, who backed away.
"Sorry?" Waver deflated.
"What have I got myself into," he muttered. "Okay. First of all, what is your origin? I've never heard of a Kimal Diehl or Jacqueline O' Lantern in history books. Where are you from?" The lantern in Kim's hands began to talk, flames spurting out of her mouth.
"Nevada, Death City."
"I've never heard of that place." Waver searched his mind for such a city, but turned up with nothing.
"Then let's go to the library." Kim climbed back on the lantern and offered Waver a seat, who sighed.
"C'mon," Kim said, grinning once again. "Jackie will go slower this time."
