Don't worry

Adrian

I kept hearing things fall and small yelps of fright when I got back from doing an 'emergency' modeling shoot. It must be the other person on the other side of the wall. I was really exited to talk to this person. I also figured this person may not want to talk, so I will wait until whoever is on the other side talks to me first so I don't seem weird.

They must not want to talk. I get up and change into my nightclothes after taking a shower. I pick up my covers and get underneath them. They start to make noises.

rustle flop tug

Oops! I didn't mean to make that much sound. It wasn't that loud, right?

"Huh? What was that!!!"

Oh no, I waked them up! Was that a boy with a high-pitched voice or was that a girl's voice?

I am pretty sure I am the only one of us who actually knows that this is actually just one room. I bet they are freaking out. I should say something.

"Umm Hi?" I listen for any response

"Please don't hurt me ghost! I didn't do anything."

The voice was small and clearly scared. I took a moment and covered my mouth to keep any quite laughs from slipping. I can't believe they think I am a ghost! It wouldn't be too bad to play a little, would it?

"Are you sure about that?" I said in a booming voice.

"W-wh-wat-what d-d-do ye-yo-you m-meae-mean?" they stuttered

I hope they are just playing along, or I will feel really bad. They seem very scared.

"You know what you did!" I continued they must be playing.

I started to hear steady and gentle whimpering and hiccuping and unsteady breathing. Maybe they're not joking.

"No, I don't. Please stop! I'll do anything!"

Now I was hearing crying. I felt so guilty in that instant I knew they were no longer-if at all- joking. I had to fix this.

"Oh no! I am so sorry!"

"What?" I could slightly hear, but they still needed more convincing .

"I am not a ghost. I thought you were joking and playing along so I continued. I am so sorry."

"S-so you are not a ghost?"

"I am not a ghost, don't worry."

"Okay."

I think I just ruined my one chance at a true friendship. I felt so upset.

"Would you like to talk? I don't think I am going to bed anytime soon."

I perked up. I thought they wouldn't even want to speak with me.

"Wha-I-umm..." now I am the one who is tongue-tied. What do I say?!
