George POV

"You okay Freddie?" I asked, more asking myself than him.

"Yeah." Good, that's somewhat reassuring.

"Me too." I didn't want to think about it but this is war. Who knows what will happen, including losing someone. He's the last person I would want to leave me. My ear already did.

"Georgie, what's troubling you? I bet it's not just you." I sighed.

"I don't want you to meet my other ear Fred. Don't leave me. Promise me you won't! I don't want to lose you." Don't die. Those two words remained unspoken. But Fred heard them. I know he did.

"I won't d- d- die. I promise George. I won't leave you. And meeting your disembodied ear would be kinda creepy. Just don't you die on me. Will ya?" I would never do that, you wouldn't be able to live.

"I won't! Okay, and don't stutter or I might think you have Old Mouldy in the back of your head. That would be creepy, dear brother of mine." I wouldn't be able to live if you left me either Freddie.

"Fred! George! We need you!" Lee Jordan yelled as he bolted up the stairs. I grabbed Fred and we took off after him. Think about what's happening, not what could happen, I told myself, Fred's not going to die. He promised.

"Coming Lee!" Fred yelled back. 'Avada Kedrava!' I heard from behind me. I pushed Fred out of the way and dodged it.

"Gosh Freddie, even with just one ear I can still hear better than you!" He laughed, that's a sound I never want to stop

hearing. 'Reducto!' I shot behind us, collapsing part of the castle to block the Death Nibbler that was chasing us.

"Fred! George! One of you go help Percy, the other go find Ginny, she's not in the Room of Requirement any more."

"Fred I'll find Ginny, you help Perce." At the time I didn't know that there should have been another word: Goodbye.

Fred POV

"Hello Minister! Did I mention I'm resigning?" Percy yelled to Thicknesse.

"You're joking Perce!" I yelled in suprise.

"You're actually Joking Perce! I don't think I've ever heard you joke before!" I yelled out, laughing. I felt an impact on my back. I fell backwards, eyes open, laughing.

Percy POV

I saw Fred fall, his last laugh still on his face. Eyes open, unseeing.

"No, Fred, No!" I cried, tears flowing, sure they, he, may have been a pain but I loved him, them. I clawed at his chest as Ron came barreling round the corner to see me. I turned around to look at Fred's killer. They were still wearing a mask.

"You Bastard! That's..." I choked.

"That was my brother!"

George POV

Why do I feel so empty all of a sudden? Why do I feel only half here?
