Today we go to the suicide convention! I am so excited. It kinda sounds wrong but I cannot wait to see what other people have to say and I will be nervous myself. I will write when I get back.
While driving to the convention we stop at a restaurant I will not say for copyright protection (if I ever make a book out of this, plus if you're reading this then I probably did). When we ate we talked about the convention and how interesting it will be to see what they have in store for us.
After that we took another hour of driving to get to our destination. While driving we had a sing-along contest and it was fun, but now it is time to "get down to business".
When we walked in we were greeted by an event organizer which made sure we were okay to go in and told us where to go.
"The convention is huge." I say giddily
"Indeed." My mother responds and sighs shortly afterwards.
"What's wrong?" I ask
"Nothing, just a bit tired from driving here, that's all."
"If you want to sit we can." I try to say in a way to please her.
"No it's fine." She says
"If you say so" I remark
We sit down at the place our event was held.
"Are you excited?" Mom asks lovingly
"Yeah but I'm kinda nervous." I say
"Well it's healthy to be nervous" she responds
Soon the event starts. There are many speakers. One talks about prevention. On talks about awareness. And then it is my turn. I talk about experience.
"Darla Pierce" the announcer says, "here from personal experience of a tragedy."
I walk up to the stands. But it seems that the farther forward I go the slower and shakier I get until I'm practically shaking in my boots. By the time I get up there it has been at least a minute, maybe two. I step onto the stand.
"M-my friend committed suicide less than a month ago." I say shakily
I think back to one of the other people who talked about suicide prevention, kind of feel like I should've been able to pick up my best friend was depressed like that. I collapse onto the ground.
Hey this is Darla's mom. The convention didn't go well so I'm writing this for her. She is still in here room fainted from earlier. She has been really bummed lately. I'm thinking about cheering her up but I don't know how to go about that. Well, I'm going to make dinner so I'm going.
**A few days later**
So that went bad. But I have been enjoying school. I like how I have a few friends to enjoy lunch with now. And how we do things after school like get a bite to eat. Plus I enjoy my psychiatrist he's cool too.
