Evan sighed, removing his headset. It'd been a long day of editing, but he was proud of the video that he'd birthed through the process. Stretching his long limbs, he got up and grabbed a jacket, needing a walk to clear his mind and ignoring the fact that it was late at night.

Once out in the street, he plugged his earphones in and let his mind wander. He grinned, remembering the gaming session he'd had with Moo and Terroriser earlier that day and all the jokes they'd made, but ultimately his mind drifted back to his faceless friend as he always found it doing.

Delirious hadn't spoken to him for a week now and hadn't gamed with him for even longer. He'd texted the man as much as he could without seeming like a lonely loser, but he was always given the same response:

Hey Ev, I'm busy right now and will be for a bit. I'm trying to do something for someone but it's a bit more difficult than I thought XD. See you man.

He'd stopped pestering Delirious - he trusted him to get back to him when he was free. And so Evan found himself at the entrance to the park he was always at when he was frustrated and needed some air. His music was thumping gently against his eardrums and as he took a seat on the old park bench, he turned it down a bit.

He ran a hand through his dark hair and looked out at the vast expanse of grass that was barely luminated by the moonlight and felt at peace in the dark, alone.

Except he could feel it. He wasn't alone.

He could feel a burning gaze coming from somewhere behind him and it made his blood turn cold. Someone was watching him.

He cocked his head to the side, trying to make it seem casual and in his peripheral vision saw a figure, hands in pockets, hood thrown over their head, facing him ominously.

Evan was a big guy, and his years of ice hockey had done him favours by way of muscle but he wasn't willing to get into a confrontation with someone who could potentially be dangerous and with no one else around.

Instead, he pulled himself off the bench and started off the way he'd come, trying to slow his pace to a natural walk. Maybe the person was just an innocent park-goer like himself, and liked to stand in the dark? Who was Evan kidding.

He could feel the person gaining on him and quickened his pace, trying to get away. But the figure was suddenly on his heels and his heart was pounding against his chest as he felt a hand hover above his shoulder.

He reacted as quickly as possible and in a second the figure was pinned to the ground on their back, their hood still somehow on. Evan was panting in fear and was just about to wind his fist back to punch the guy, for he could tell it was a man now from the clear muscular build, when he heard a laugh escape his stalker's lips.

It was a laugh he'd heard a million times in the last few years, one that, despite its creepiness, warmed him all over whenever he heard it and was the most infectious sound his ears had ever been blessed with.

"Delirious?" Evan's voice rose, incredulous, as realisation dawned on him. The figure slowly pulled their hood off their head and grinned sheepishly.

"You got me, Ev."

Evan's breath hitched in his throat as he studied the face before him in the little light available. It was one he'd tried to imagine countless times but he'd not done the truth justice.

Delirious was fair-skinned, with a messy mop of brown-black hair that was barely visible in the moonlight. His eyes, surrounded by lashes that would have girls jealous, were the most piercing blue that stole Evan's breath.

Evan barked a laugh, his body feeling weightless with joy. "You idiot! I could have hurt you!"

Delirious smirked and the sight alone melted all of Evan's trivial worries. "But you didn't. 'Sides, I was just trying to surprise you."

"In the middle of the night? In a park? Are you serious?"

Delirious laughed, a sound that Evan relished. "Maybe it wasn't the best idea I've ever had." His laughter died as he glanced down. "Hey, can I get up now?"

It was then that Evan realised he still had Delirious pinned to the ground, their bodies in a compromising position. He cleared his throat, becoming flustered and hurriedly tore himself away from Delirious, who stood and dusted himself off, scratching the back of his neck.

"I really am sorry Evan. I didn't mean to scare you. Well, I mean -" His sentence was cut short as he was engulfed in a bone-crushing hug. Evan tucked his face into the side of Delirious' neck and inhaled his scent of rainwater and citrus and sighed. He'd imagined this moment a hundred times and felt tears prick his eyes. Delirious was here, with him. It didn't take long for Delirious to giggle and return the hug with as much force. They parted, faces close to breaking from the grins they couldn't hide.

"Let's go back to mine, Delirious."

"You can call me Jon, man."

"Okay Jon man, we're going to my house and we're not sleeping tonight."

Delirious couldn't hold back the laugh that escaped his lips as he wiggled his eyebrows. "Damn Evan. First you practically mount me and now you tell me you won't let me sleep the whole night? Are we doing what I think we are?"

Evan laughed breathlessly as they began walking. "Shut up." He thought for a second as they naturally fell into step beside each other. "How long were you following me for?"

A creepy smile found its way onto Delirious' face. "I was behind you the whole time!"

The two friends laughed all the way back to Evan's house, where Evan kept his promise and didn't let Delirious sleep as the two talked face to face until the early hours of the morning, enjoying each other's company.
