The sad old man sat alone in his brittle old rocking chair, slowly rocking himself back and forth as he looked down at his pale wrinkled hands, lifting his head to look at the ticking clock before him, watching the time move slowly listening to the soft ticking noise fill his ears.
Tick...Tick...Tick
The time went by fast, suddenly hearing loud rapid knocks on his front door, turning his head to look down the hallway towards the door his full attention fixated on the knocking that could be heard throughout the place. Signing softly as he turned to look forward as he thought to himself.
"Maybe I'm not the only one left." A smile reaches his lips the feeling of joy filling his insides, raising from his seat glancing at the cupboards wondering if he should make some tea for the awaiting guest who stood behind his door. deciding not to, he slowly made his way over to the door with the help of his walker making his way out of the living room walking down the narrow hallway the floor creaking as he walked.
The knocking then started up again louder this time, the older man said nothing his voice to quiet to even speak his mind to try and hold off the person behind the door.
Finally making his way down the hallway right to the front door placing his walker on the dusty mat that's been out of use for many years, reaching his boney fingers out placing them around the door handle turning it slowly wondering what's on the other side and once he opened that door..
He wished he had made that tea
