Ponyboy lives in a place where if you are a grease you are poor, and pretty much as good as dead. And if you are a Soc you are rich and do what ever you want. Including beating up the greasers.
Ponyboy is unlike any greaser. He watches sunsets, read poetry, and thing like that. He Has two older brothers. Darry(Darell) is the oldest. When there parents died Darry became the legal guardian of the others. Ponyboy thinks that Darry hates him because of how he treats him. Then there is Sodapop, who dropped out of school and started working with his friend Steve at a gas station. He loves to ride horses at rodeos.
They all belong to a gang. Darry being the leader. They have all there friends. Steve, Two-bit, Dally, and Johnny. One day Ponyboy boy and Johnny are charged for murder, and have to run for there lives. Ponyboy must now leave his friends and family. What will Ponyboy do next? Read the book to find out.
