Sunspots

Rays of sun flow into our house

Filling our home with a golden glowing warmth

I see the sun spots

Feeding the plants in our garden

Strawberries grow giving the garden a bright red hue

And filling it with a bitter sweet sent

I see the sun spots

Lighting our path home from the convenience store

Carrying bags of groceries to make dinner

I see the sun spots

Beating down on our patched up roof

Overflowing in the room where we await for our dads

return from hunting for crabs

But he never showed

I feel the sun spots

Igniting the plants in our strawberry garden

Where we buried our grandfather without help

I feel the sun spots

Setting ablaze the path I walk from the convenience

store

Seeing my father with a woman I've never seen

Pretending not to know me

I feel the sun spots

Lighting up our falling apart house

Guiding my way on the narrows dirt road

And filling our strawberry garden

I live the sun spots
