Emily was walking towards the field to meet Thomas when she sees something unpalatable. James Smith and Mark? What is the latter doing here? And why is James talking to him? She feels uncomfortable somehow. She keeps on walking without taking her eyes off them. Suddenly, she bumps into someone.
"Look front when you're walking, Em!". Emily looks front and sees Thomas with crossed arms. She smiles slightly at him and turns her head at James and Mark, but they are gone. Huh? Was she dreaming just now? Thomas stares at Emily confusedly. He is trying to search for what Emily is looking at and of course, he sees nothing.
"Are you all right?" Thomas puts down his arms. Emily turns to Thomas and nods.
"Oh! I came here because I want to tell you that my friends and I are going to take a walk around the city!" Emily exclaims.
"Your friends? Kate and Felicia?" Thomas rubs his chin.
"Yeah, and Laura also!". Laura is Katherine's cousin, so technically she is Emily's friend too.
"But...have you told Dad?"
"Yup!" Emily nods briskly.
"How --" Thomas begins to say, but Emily quickly cuts him off.
"Please, no more questions! You're like an inquisitor. By the way, Daddy let me go and I wasn't asking for your permission," Emily folds her arms.
"Fine. Just go!" Thomas folds his arms also, trying to be intimidating.
"All right!" Emily scoffs and stomps away from Thomas.

"PIGEONS!!" Katherine runs towards a flock of pigeons whilst squealing like a jovial child and watches them fly away.
"Kate! Everyone's watching," Felicia says through gritted teeth. Katherine just laughs and ignores her.
"Hey, there's an ice cream shop!" Laura exclaims and hops a bit.
"Really? Come on, girls! Let's eat some ice cream!". Before leaving, Katherine waves her hands at the pigeons and runs with Laura. Emily and Felicia just watch them from afar.
"I guess they are genetically childish," Felicia whispers at Emily making her giggle.

The four girls sit together on a bench whilst enjoying the scenery of a tranquil lake. Emily puts her face on her palms while her elbows are on her knees and sighs softly.
"Why are you sighing, Em? Are you thinking about James Smith?" Katherine elbows Emily while wiggling her eyebrows.
"Huh?" Emily scrunches her nose up.
"James Smith? You like him, Emily?" Felicia widens her eyes in astonishment.
"No, he --"
"I heard a rumour that James fell in love with Emily after he saw her on the very first day they met," Laura says suddenly while tapping her foot.
"Aww ~ I told you, Em. He really likes you. Love at first sight!" Katherine shakes Emily's shoulders.
"It's just a rumour," Emily coughs and blushes at Laura and Katherine's statements.
"We'll see..." Katherine and Laura smirk.
Emily shakes her head and looks at Felicia. Why is she becoming quiet after Katherine mentioned James Smith's name? Maybe because she likes James Smith? And she is jealous? Emily feels guilty.
"Umm.. I want to throw these wrappers into the recycle bin," Emily gets up and turns around the corner. She throws them into the bin and rubs her palms and lifts up her head slowly. She widens her eyes as she sees something terrible.
"Julie?" Emily walks closer to Julie and a man to get a better and clearer view. Who is the man? Why is he holding Julie's waist? Maybe he is one of Julie's relatives. Emily starts to turn away, but stops in a middle of her turn when she catches both of them kissing passionately. She gasps and looks down. Oh, Stephen... You chose a wrong girl. A stupid blind girl. Emily looks up back and now they have stopped kissing and Julie is staring at her. Emily folds her arms and sighs, pretending to be mad and disappointed.
"Can you wait for me over there, please? I have to talk to this girl," Julie says to the man and he nods. Before he leaves, he takes a quick glance at Emily.
"What were you thinking you're doing?" Emily talks first, still with her folded arms.
"What are you doing out here? A minor like you shouldn't be here alone," says Julie while applying lipstick on her lips.
"What are you doing here? Someone's girlfriend like you shouldn't be kissing another man," Emily fights back making Julie stop doing whatever she's doing at that time. Julie bites her bottom lip and walks closer to Emily.
"Listen, kid. Stephen doesn't have to know about this or --"
"Or he will dump you? Great! I can't wait to tell him," Emily taps her foot.
"Emily, Emily. Tsk tsk," Julie circles around Emily. "You want to tell him? Do you want to give him a depression? I bet you still don't know about Stephen's history. You're so innocent, aren't you?" she continues.
Emily frowns. Right. Emily doesn't know Stephen 100%. He may be her stepbrother, but he is secretive and doesn't open too much to her.
When Julie realises that Emily is still speechless, she begins saying, "If you tell anyone about this, I will give you a calamitous life because I know that you have problems with one of your parents".
Geez... There she goes. Giving Emily a threat. Emily is not afraid of her mother. She just doesn't want to be separated from her new harmonious family.
"Hey, kid! Do you agree with me? Do you understand?" Julie holds Emily's face harshly and turns it to her. Emily slowly nods without looking at her face.
"Say it! Look into my eyes!" Julie's long sharp nails start to dig into Emily's soft skin.
"Yes, I agree! I understand!" Emily says the words to satisfy Julie. Julie smiles smugly and pushes Emily away.
"Good. Now get out of here, filthy kid," Julie walks away, her high heels clicking on the concrete ground. Emily just watches her. Julie infuriates her so much that she wants to attack Julie from behind, but she hates violence.
"Oh, gosh! What am I gonna do?" Emily wipes her face with her palms. She can't let Stephen get deceived by a sneaky woman like Julie. She has to do something as soon as possible!
"What are you doing, Emily?" Katherine stands behind Emily while tilting her head to the right.
"Kate! You have to listen to me and help me, please!" Emily puts her hands on Katherine's shoulders. Emily knows the consequences of telling anyone about what had happened just now, but she has to solve the problem. No matter what.
"No one can mess with my brother, Stephen," Emily talks to herself whilst Katherine stares at her confusedly.
