Agony
Extreme and generally prolonged pain; intense physical or mental suffering.
“He was in agony from the pain in his foot.”

Assault
A sudden, violent attack; onslaught:
“He was charged for assault against the woman.”

Bloodcurdling
Arousing terror; horrifying:
“She let out a bloodcurdling scream.”

Crisis
A dramatic emotional or circumstantial upheaval in a person's life
“It was a midnight crisis.”

Disastrous (calamitous)
Causing great distress or injury; ruinous; very unfortunate
“The kitchen was in a disastrous mess.”

Feeble (Frail)
Physically weak, as from age or sickness
“She made a feeble attempt.”

Frantic 
Desperate or wild with excitement, passion, fear, pain, etc.
“Her movements were frantic.”

Gullible
Easily deceived or cheated
“She was so gullible when her friends were joking with her.”

Horrific
Causing horror
“The sight before her was horrific.”

Indescribable
Too extraordinary for description
“She looked up at the boy, he was indescribable, perfect almost.”

Justice
The quality of being just; righteousness,
“She wanted justice for the murder of her father.”

Looming
A mirage in which objects below the horizon seem to be raised above their true positions.
“The night was looming above them.”

Lurking
To lie or wait in concealment, as a person in ambush
“The shadows were lurking behind her.”

Meltdown
A quickly developing breakdown or collapse
“The whole ordeal was a meltdown.”

Nightmare
A terrifying dream in which the dreamer experiences feelings of helplessness
“It was her worst nightmare.”

Plague
An epidemic disease that causes high mortality
“It was a like a plague to her.”

Pitfall
Any trap or danger for the unwary

Suffering injury or bodily harm, as a laceration or bullet wound
“She was heavily wounded in that fight.”
