Long ago, in the Kingdom of France, there lived a princess, beautiful and fair. She was kind and sweet but often left alone in her room in the palace, as the King and Queen were always busy. She wasn't allowed to leave the palace gates. She sometimes wondered why.

One day, war broke out between the French and the English. The princess didn't know why, but her father hated the English, especially their King, and the war only made it worse.

The night after, the princess decided to go outside. She had nothing to do. And so, she went. She found a hole in the palace walls and snuck through. Outside, she saw a wondrous beauty. The beauty of nature at night astounded her. She asked herself that same question she had been pondering about lately, "Why am I not allowed to leave the palace gates?" She said to herself, "The outside world is absolutely beautiful!"

She continued wandering off into the forest. She eventually found a lake, a relatively small one, yet beautiful. It glistened as the moon and the stars glimmered in the night sky.

Then, she saw a young boy coming near. At first, she panicked, but she eventually calmed herself down. Once the boy was near enough, she said to him, "Hello there! I am Princess Emile of the Kingdom of France. Who are you?" The boy was shy at first, but he eventually said, "Hello your highness! I'm Oliver. It's an honor meeting you, your highness! What are you doing here anyway? Aren't you supposed to be inside the castle?" She replied, "Oh! I was bored. I am always in my room. There's not much to do. Also, are you British?" "Why yes your highness. I don't suppose that means you'll have to make the royal guards arrest me or something?" he replied back. She said, "No! Of course not! There's no need. Unlike my father, I don't despise the English. Also, please, call me Emile." "Oh, okay then Emile!" the boy said as he smiled.

The two conversed for several hours, promising, in the end, to meet back the next day. The two then said their farewells and left. The princess successfully snuck back into her room and slept.
