Lexie Grey was one quiet girl. She always had been. She had spent everyday of med school in her own corner studying and it paid off, as she passed with flying colors.
She didn't worry about relationships. None of them were going to last anyways. Her work was way more important than any guy she'd mess around with. She didn't have many friends either. None of it mattered to her.
Once she got to Seattle Grace, however, everything was different. This was a real working hospital, and not to mention, a level one trauma center. There was loud machines and yelling everywhere you looked. That 'hospital smell' lingered in every room you walked in. This was it, this was her workplace.
She looked around at her fellow interns. They all seemed as nervous as her, if not more. They were all young like her, except for that one old guy. There was always that one old guy. Always.
As her resident explained the rules throughout the tour, she zoned out, looking at all of the higher level staff. Did they hire models for doctors? At least all of them had fantastic hair, or boulders for muscles. It was weird, almost.
"Grey, repeat my last rule." He resident said, giving her a stern look.
Lexie sucked in a breath. Her first time interacting with her resident and she wasn't even paying attention. "I- uhm.." She cleared her throat. "I.. don't know." She sighed. Her fellow interns just laughed, only to get silenced by their resident seconds later.
"Pay attention, or walk out the door now." Her resident demanded, continuing forward.
By the end of her day, Lexie was more than ready to run to Joe's and get a drink. She was even invited by two other interns, Pierce and Megan. She agreed, meeting them at the bar.
While there, she sat at the bar, discussing her first, stressful day of work. While scanning the bar, her eyes landed on a guy wearing scrubs. He was in navy, so he was higher up obviously. He had blonde hair, but not too long. He had blue/green eyes, but something about them told a story. He wasn't just a pretty boy. His facial hair wasn't too excessive, you could tell he cared about how he looked.
Then the worse of the worse happened: he saw her staring. He smirked, winking at her. Seriously, a wink? Real original. She quickly shot her head down, putting her head in her hand.
"I should head home, guys. Thanks for the invite." She said, quickly, throwing a twenty on the bar. She grabbed her purse, speeding out of the bar with her head down.
She stood outside with Uber open on her phone. "Come on.. It's like midnight. There's not that much traffic." She mumbled, tapping her foot.
"Actually, I heard there was a wreck on 1st." A deep voice appeared behind her.
Lexie yelped, jumping away from him. "God, you scared me! Why would you do that??"
"Well, I didn't mean to scare you. But the staring was kind of creepy, so I think we're even." He teased, giving her a charming grin.
"I just zoned out. You happened to be in front of me." She lied, looking forward for her Uber. "You can go back inside."
"Mhm." He chuckled. "What are you waiting on? A taxi?" He asked.
"An Uber." She corrected. "Seriously, you can go. Sorry about the staring. Won't do it again."
"It's all good. No hard feelings here." He assured her.
Lexie let out the biggest breath once her Uber arrived. "Well, uh, this was nice.." She said, quickly getting in.
The man touched her arm. "Mark Sloan." He spit out before she shut the door.
Lexie rolled the window down. "Lexie Grey." She responded, grinning as they pulled off. Maybe today wasn't that bad.
