Chapter 3

We were still standing in the hallway. We were still in the hallway and Calum was still smirking at me. We were still in the hallway as I was still hoping that Jaemison would come back and save me from this encounter. We were still in the hallway when the first bell rang signaling that start moving towards our homerooms.

"How did you know I was first in our class and why are you still doing that weird thing with your face?" I asked him. 

"Anders told me" he replied. "Why?" his brows furrowed and it was kind of cute if I wasn't embarrassed and mad at Anders.

"I don't know. I just don't really like to brag about my achievements that's all."

"Well you should be proud that's hard work" he said with a knowing smile. "And as much as I would love to chat, I think we should get going so little miss perfect isn't late on her first day back" he said teasingly.

We began to walk down the corridor heading for our homeroom. I was happy that most people were already in homeroom so it wasn't hard for us to make it without gawking fans asking for pictures or autographs. I can promise you that the school made them promise not to bother them on their first day back at the school at least. There was a slightly uncomfortable silence as we headed towards the last door in the hallway. Once we reached the door, I had to stop and breathe for a minute. I was about to walk in with Calum Hood from 5 Seconds of Summer and we the final bell had just rung. I opened the door and went to my seat allowing the teacher, Mr. Webb, to speak with Calum. They spoke briefly and quietly before Calum searched the room and took the open seat next to me.

"Alright class! Welcome back from break. I hope y'all had a good time. As you probably already heard a famous rock band is enrolled at our school for their final year. Please do not disturb them and all that. And please make sure you understand your schedule changes before homeroom ends" he said.

When he finished he turned on the board and the announcements came on for the day. 

"Valedictorian, lacrosse captain, and you host the announcements? Is there something important around here that you don't do?" Calum whispered to me.

After awkwardly watching myself, Jaemison, and Anders on the announcements, the bell ending homeroom finally rung. Even though it was only ten minutes it felt like an eternity with just Calum cracking jokes and being somewhat annoying.

I got out of my seat and started to head for the door when I felt someone grabbing a hold of my hand. I don't know why but a sudden surge of shivers went up my arm when I felt the contact. I turned around and was met face to face with Calum.

"Hold on Miss president. Get used to waiting for me we do have the same schedules after all."

I turned around and let him follow me to our next class that thankfully had the whole group in it. I'm still not so sure whether it's a blessing or a curse. They seemed like nice guys but I'm not so sure if we're going to become the tight knit group Anders is hoping for.

It is finally lunch time and I'm getting more used to the idea of expanding our friend group. I think it's easier when it's not just me and Calum for some reason. We all walk towards the cafeteria together when Anders and Jaemison stop at the doors.

"Okay. I'm sure y'all already know this, but-"

"It's going to be hectic in there." Jaemison finishes.

"We've already been to this school just because there were a few hits doesn't mean people will go crazy. This is our home." Calum said.

"It never got crazy on the road?" Jaemison said slightly annoyed.

"Well-"

"Okay guys let's just pause and stop giving each other glares. Luke you're the cute 'quiet' one, Michael is the crazy nerdy type, Ashton is the fun wild one, and Calum you just come off as the broody type... sorry" Rilee said.

We all looked at her shocked and slightly confused.

"What. Y'all knew I was a huge fan of 5SOS."

We somewhat ignore what Rilee just said and braced ourselves for what was waiting for us on the other side of the door. To say the least we were surprised. Of course there were the ones who wee crazy and came put to the boys and the ones who busted stared, but some of the student body didn't even acknowledge us coming into the lunchroom, probably thinking we are just another group of ordinary friends, which we were grateful for. We got our food and then went to our usual table to eat. 

On one side of the table was Rilee, Anders, Ashton, and Michael. On the other side was Jaemison, me, Calum, and Michael. I was a little uncomfortable being in-between Calum and Jaemison. Calum was fun to be around when he wasn't joking about me, but I could sense something weird going on with Jaemison ever since the guys arrived on the fields. He seemed to get along with everyone from the band but him. I made a mental note to ask him about it when we had our free periods. For now I need to figure out a way to get them to bond in some sort of way. My thoughts are drowned out by the chatter at our table when Jaemison interrupts.

"Hey are you okay?" he whispers in my ear.

"I'm fine. Don't worry okay?"

We finish off lunch and then head to art history early together. The hallways and classrooms are still somewhat vacant as most people were still in the cafeteria eating. As soon as we entered the room we saw the new seating chart on the board. The tables were group in three and stayed that way for however long Mrs. Cornwelle liked. I scanned the boar for my name and looked up to see a smirking Calum and dazed Jaemison. Calum, Jaemison, and I are assigned in a group of tables. I looked on the board again and see that Anders, Luke, and Michael ended up together leaving Riles alone. I shot her a look and she sent an even more sympathetic one my way probably sensing the tension radiating off of Jaemison. 

The bell signaling the end of lunch finally rang, so we sat down in our seats. People began to file into class looking at the board for their seats. Some were disappointed that they weren't with the guys but the others just sort of acknowledged them and found their seats. Mrs. Cornwelle walks in seconds before the bell signaling the beginning of class rings.

"Great to see y'all have found your seats!" she says. "As you could probably tell these are your new seats for the rest of the semester. I know that I normally switch them up once or twice every semester, but we have a big project that will take the whole semester. Judging by some of your faces i'm sure y'all figured it out already. I hope you like the people you're sitting next to and if not learn to get used to them because these are the groups and seats for the rest of the year!"
