Days passed by in blur with all its blacks and whites and he never brought up the topic again to which I was grateful.

I completely shut Paul out of my life and his was quite a mess when I told him I was married.

Well I really enjoyed that day.
Atleast i won't have to be nagged by him anymore.
Bloody Virgil.

Our whole routine turned out to be a cycle that repeated with both of us not talking to each other.

Morning run
Breakfast
University
Dinner.

That's how our life had been stretching for past six months. The only happiness that seemed to bloom in me was the fact that I was about to be awarded my degree within a span of week.

'Time?', he asked, scrolling down his phone while I stood before him like a jailbird.

'10 'o' clock', I said gaping at his erotic V-line.

He hummed and nodded his head.

I waited for him to congratulate me for my upcoming convocation but he didn't budge his gaze.

I walked back up to our room and prayed for us. For our marriage. Coz it was really rolling down the hill and I didn't want that. I always imagined us to be strolling along the seashore with a small baby hanging waddling between our hands.

The door click closed, bringing me out of my small heaven. He dashed inside the bathroom and came out with a towel around his waist.

Wow
Couldn't he just look at me the way I look at him?

Closing the wardrobe, he changed behind it and I laid down with my fluffy comforter.

The bed dipped under his weight but his hand had forgotten my waist for past six months. I waited every night for a small peck or kiss but it never came.

'There is this party..', he started and I sat up abruptly to turn on the lamp.

He was talking
To me
Was I dreaming?

'But it's falling on your convocation night...', he mumbled with closed eyes.

'Convocation is in the morning... I'm all ready to tug along.'
I got this giddy feeling inside my stomach. Finally we'll head out somewhere as a proper couple.
Yay!

Oh but wait!

'I don't have a proper dress!', I said into the darkness but he never replied.

***********

I took a cab to a nearby mall with my man's credit card in my pocket.

I hadn't shopped for past two years and a mall seemed a really foreign place to me.

I shopped for some seasonal clothes coz it was getting cold in here and after straining four outlets, I was contended to find a beige gown studded with pearls over it's back.

'Look!'
I splayed my gown all over the bed to show him but he was all set to break his laptop's keyboard.
I glared down at him but his gaze stayed glued to his screen.

I hated his distant self and anticipated to delete Paul from our databases. I shimmied the clothe to grab his attention but he didn't tore his gaze.

I shoved the dress in the wardrobe and made wudhu to pray Isha.
I gazed up at his beautiful face over the crown of my fingers. His grumpy face had quite sharp features with straight nose, high cheek bones and plump lips.

I thanked my Allah that he didn't astray much and never came back drunk ever since that night.

As if he palpated my gaze, he glanced at me and I smiled brightly up at him. I really wanted him to look at me like lovers do.
