'I can't!'

I heaved loudly and hunched over the nearby bench in our abandoned compound.

'You okay? You didn't even complete first lapse!', he exclaimed coming towards me and I slumped over the bench.

I shook my head and inhaled deeply.
I felt out of breath. My lungs seemed to be on fire.

'I wanna go home!'

Jumping into the shower, I felt my muscles calm a bit. Shrugging into my work clothes, I dabbed on some gloss and mascara, blow dried my hair and headed down only to be gagged by a horrendous smell.

'What the hell is that?', I shrieked and came closer to the kitchen to find my man all ready to bang the world in his suit, making our omelets.

Ohh

'What?', he asked with scrunched brows catching our toasts amidst the air from the toaster and laid my plate on the counter as I tried to hop onto a very much high barstool stool.

'Who did this?', I gritted and ducked down to pull its lever, making it user friendly for my height.

'Finish it!', he mumbled amidst his mouthful as I pushed my plate away after a bolus or two.

I shook my head and hopped off to fix myself a glass of chilled water.

'That's a lot of ice!', he scoffed and I rolled my eyes.

'Nobody needs your consultancy!', I spat and he blanched.

'Behave!', he growled and my heart shrank.

He still had the power. Indeed!

I transpired out of the kitchen and lurked around the lounge till he finished his breakfast.

I gazed up at the staircase and recalled the day when I took it for the first time after my injury.
It was the happiest day of my life.
And what brought more to the event was the fact when we got out for a date.

A sharp snapping of fingers pulled me out of my thoughts and I found him in the main doorway gazing at my former sight.

'What is it?', he asked poking his head out more to look up at the staircase.

I shook my head and advanced towards him.

'Phone? Keys?', he asked and I rolled my eyes at his regular questions.

I tapped my bag, showing him that everything was intact while he checked his own pockets.

Such a control freak...

At the sight of a very much crowded elevator, a sudden nausea hit me again but we invaded it.

Soon our ways parted and I waved at him as David shut my door. He stood leaning against the hood of his car, smiling at me as we drove away.

For past two months this proved to be our routine.

Me waving
Him smiling...

I drowned myself in work as soon as I reached office. I was a junior account's head in Harper's and life seemed to bloom in here.
Lunch break rolled in and I still couldn't bring myself to eat something.

I rode down the elevator with a big smile stretched on my face as my boss handed me my third paycheck.

David nodded his head and I smiled at his wrinkly index.
We drove back in silence and I entered a very much abandoned condo again.

My man wasn't home yet.

Huff...

Dumping my bag on the couch I headed for the kitchen and drank hell a lot of water.
Seeking the fridge, I found our leftover chowmein and thought to down it.
