I called Hyunjin back immediately, awaiting his text or voice telling me that he was fine, that someone had played another stupid prank on me. But he didn't answer, the call went to voicemail. I started to panic and after a few more tries of texting and calling him, I shot up and grabbed my shoes and a jacket, not minding that the only thing I was wearing was sweatpants and...no shirt.
I threw on my jacket quickly and shoved my feet into my shoes, heading very quickly over to Hyunjin's house.
He hadn't left me any voicemails when I missed his calls, just ended the calls when I didn't answer. And that made me even more worried than if he would've left messages for me.
I patiently knocked on his front door once I reached the slightly dilapidated house. No answer. Of fucking course.
I was having a full blown panic attack by this time. I knocked again, calling to him, but he still didn't open the door or even call back out to me. I tried the doorknob and it opened slowly and I bursted into the house, looking around. The kitchen and living room seemed to be in perfect condition. I headed back to his room and still, the house looked fine.
I hesitatingly walked into the bathroom, turning on the light. There was vomit in the toilet and a few blood trails as well. And in the bathtub lay an unconscious Hyunjin. The blood trails were quite obvious; they led to his wrists. I looked away, gagging, feeling as though I might faint right next to him.
Hyunjin had been struggling with depression for a while, but I never expected it to really be this bad. I forced myself to look back at him and blinked back tears, rushing forward, panic obvious in my uneven breathing.
I checked for a pulse first. Still there. He was still fighting and that was all the strength I needed to pick his body up, his blood staining my clothes. His head dangled from his neck as I carried him bridal style. I didn't know who to call, I couldn't carry him all the way to the hospital by myself. So I panicked and set him down on the grass when I was outside.
I screamed for someone to help, but no one seemed to be around. Except for an angel who was turning the corner towards Hyunjin's street. I looked up and screamed at the figure and they paused and then approached me quickly.
"Oh my god, what happened to Hyunjin?!" Jisung screamed, kneeling beside him.
"..he's been dealing with depression for a while.. he called me a bunch last night, but I didn't answer. I-I got worried and found him like this," I say, the tears that I tried so hard to fight back finally breaking loose and steadily climbing down my cheeks.
"Holy shit! We...c'mon, we have to get him to the hospital!" Jisung takes action and picks Hyunjin's limp body by his arms and I take his legs. We quickly head to the hospital and manage to get there in about ten minutes, due to the fact that someone saw us walking down the road and offered to give us a ride to the hospital.
He was admitted as quickly as they could get him in, but i wasn't allowed to see him.
I was so glad that Jisung had rounded that corner in that cute pink jacket that was now stained red. If he hadn't, I feel like I probably would've broken down just then because of the stress.
He's an angel.
