• Meredith Grey

You were a third year surgical resident at Mercy West when the merger happened. You were scared and nervous and intimidated and every other adjective in the book. When you didn't get fired, and moved to the Seattle Grace hospital building along with some of your peers, you spotted her. She was in a hospital bed, which you later learned was because of a liver donation to her father, and she looked beautiful. She took your breath away from just looking at her.
You've heard of the famous Meredith Grey before, the crazy girl who stuck her hand with a bomb, who drowned, the daughter of Ellis Grey. She was one of the reasons you felt so intimidated with this merger, because you'd be working and competing alongside her.
But when you saw her lying there you didn't feel scared or intimidated. You felt like you wanted to talk to her. So that's exactly what you did. You walked into her room, introduced yourself, and just talked to her like you've known her forever. You're sure you freaked her out just a little bit, but it was worth it. You made it a plan to "bother her" more as you grew more accustomed to the merger.

Christina Yang

You two first met at Joe's when Christina was working there. You watched all night as she danced and laughed and flirted with everyone around her. It bothered you for some reason to see her so wild and free. You tried to come up with a reason why as you walked to the bar and ordered a drink.
Then all of a sudden somebody slammed into you, and you fell hard face first onto the floor. Your drink must have fallen as well, because you looked around on the floor and saw broken bits of glass all around you. Immediately the dancing girl from before stood in front of you and led you to the back.
Out there you finally realized you were bleeding, probably from the glass. So Cristina took care of that, and she began to stitch you up with the materials inside the emergency kit. While she did that you asked her why she was there, and then what happened to her, and so on and so on until she finished. By then you were closer to her than most of your "friends," and vise versa. You were a big part of Christina getting it together and going back to medicine, you encouraged her and embraced her. She may have been your knight in shinning armor but you are hers.

•Alex Karev

You two sorta grew up together. And by sorta I mean he was your neighbor, for all of seven years. In those years you could remember brief memories of play wrestling, and a hose being aimed at you, and lot and lots of running. But then you also remembered hearing screaming from his home, as if somebody was dying and shouting for the world to know.
Around the age of 11 Alex went away. It was a shame too because you had recently gotten over your "boys are icky" phase and began to accept your feelings for Alex. At the time you were heartbroken, you believed nothing worse could have happened. Luckily now you realized it was just a silly crush, but still back then it was a very sad time.
When you were in your first year of undergrad at University of Iowa, you met Alex Karev again. It was at a stupid frat party, and you accidentally spilled something on him. He turned around to accuse you and thought you looked similar, and from then on you two were inseparable. The two of you caught up after so many years, and you were a big motivation for Alex to switch from a wrestling major to a medical one. Who knows where he'd be without you.

• Miranda Bailey

You were a nurse assigned to Izzy Stevens during her hospital stay. Izzy had stage 4 melanoma that had spread to her skin, liver, and brains and on most nights it was only you and Dr. Bailey to keep her company. Her friends were either too preoccupied to check up sometimes, or were avoiding the room so they wouldn't have to see their once healthy friend now laying on a hospital bed. So it'd be up to you and Dr. Bailey to stop her from losing her mind.
For a little over a week as you waited for Izzy's surgery, you three would sit around the bed and talk about each other's lives and any drama you've seen recently. It was nice, in your opinion, to take a second and relax with them. Before you never really knew Dr. Bailey, but you heard she was a force to be reckoned with. She was fierce, and competitive, and so, so good at what she does. After talking to her you can see all these things are true, she really cares about her patients and puts so much effort into her work.
Even after Izzy's surgery you continued to talk to Miranda, as well as when Izzy left. You began to look forward to seeing her in the halls, or the OR, or in the medical wing. You were there for her during George's death, she was understandably distraught and took much needed time off of work. During that time you stayed with her, and held her and soothed her until she was ready to face her patients again.
