Chapter 13

"Are you sure you're fine?" Arthur asked Eizen.

"I'm sure, don't worry about me, Arthur." Eizen seemed to have a sad look on his face as he pondered.

"Well, I guess I'll head back."

"Let me ask you something."

"What is it?"

"Velvet and Eleanor are from the past, so why are they here?"

"That's a good question. I'm even wondering what Celica and I are doing here. Well, either way, good night Eizen."

"What do you mean-"

"Good night."

A day had passed since Eizen's return, and all he had were questions. Eleanor pieced together what she knew and Sorey helped with the Celestial Records on hand. But nothing solved any real questions. The history was straight forward, all but Arthur and Celica were familiar with, not that they made it known. So, what got them, was what to do next.

That was when Lailah spoke up, she suggested to travel to the Empyrean's Throne, a place where their answers could be found and a place where the Empyrean Maotelus laid. Both Eleanor and Eizen looked at one another at the mention of that name. Even so, they kept their thoughts to themselves as the others talked through their plans.

"Who is Maotelus?" Celica asked.

"He's the fifth Empyrean, the one who controls the silver flame," Vanessa explained.

"On our journey," Mikleo spoke up. "He was corrupted by Heldalf, the Lord of Calamity at the time. Sorey purified both Heldalf and Maotelus."

"Maotelus should be back to normal," Lailah said. "He's able to feel the energy around the world, he would know if there was anything wrong."

"Then we'll talk to him," Velvet said.

"Are you sure?" Eleanor asked.

"I'm sure, we were brought together, and I want to know who this Maotelus being is."

"Velvet..."

"Don't worry about her Eleanor," Eizen whispered to her.

"In the morning then? Does that sound good?" Arthur looked to the others.

"Sounds good to me," Rose said.

Eizen and Velvet talked about what was going on and she pointed out that he didn't talk to his sister at all. It seemed more than just his bad luck possibly affecting her since he was fine with Velvet and Sorey being so close to him. He admitted he acted irrationally when he was a dragon and was afraid Edna hated him for that. Velvet pushed him to talk to her about it, from what it seemed, she was worried about him more than she was mad at him.

Velvet stood up from the table and went to talk to Edna about it. That was when Eleanor found a window to talk to Eizen more about Maotelus. They knew who he was, and were worried about how Velvet would react if she found out. It was immoral to keep it a secret, but they also didn't have a choice. Velvet was under enough pressure with the knowledge she was in the future far from her time and was stuck there until she found a way back home.

Edna approached Eizen and Eleanor left to let them talk. Edna was hesitant to talk at first, she hadn't spoken to him in years and didn't know where to start. She told him that she missed him and didn't know if she'd ever see him again. He didn't have many memories during his time as a dragon, but he knew Edna was lonely.

(Another build-up chapter, I'm tired. I wake up too early and go to bed too late. The Berseria arc is much longer than the Zestiria arc since time travel and Emphyreans have to do with the gang getting back together.

Those of you who played Berseria, you know exactly where this is headed and who Maotelus is. After the scene with Maotelus, I have a fun scene planned then on the next character, two, who will be joining the party. This party is getting big. Sorry, Edna and Zaveid fans, they'll get their parts in later, I can't write everyone into a scene. Especially with 12+ characters roaming around. Which is why my fight scenes break them into smaller groups.)
