The voice of her cousin broke Lydia out of her trance.

"So-so it's true? I mean, do you really have the-the..." Ron trailed off, unable to say the word.

"The what?" Harry said, moderately confused by the freckled boy in front of him.

"The scar." Lydia said for her cousin who was still kind of frozen in his spot on the cushioned seat of the train compartment.

"Oh." He reached his hand up and lifted his messy bangs to reveal a red scar shaped like a lightning bolt on the off-center of his forehead. The mark of a dark spell.

"Wicked." Ron gasped out, finally regaining the ability to speak to the famous boy in front of him. Just then, a sweet old lady with a trolley full of candy rolled up to the glass door and spoke to the children.

"Anything from the trolley, dears?" She had a nice voice that made Lydia smile at her, but the grin immediately dropped when she realized she didn't have enough money to afford the sweets she craved so much. Ron seemed to have the same thought but held up a mushed sandwich. Harry looked at the two red haired children before he reached into his pocket and revealed several shiny galleons.

"We'll take the lot."

The three children were sat in their train compartment, candy and trash was littered everywhere as the munched on the health destroying sweets.

"These aren't real chocolate frogs, are they?" Harry asked as he picked up the gold and blue package that held the enchanted chocolate. The small statement was enough to draw a quiet laugh from Lydia as she sat sucking on a blood lollipop.

"It's just a spell, it's the cards you want. Ron's got about 500 hundred, I've only got a couple. He keeps stealing them." She explained to the naive wizard sitting across from her. Playfully glaring at Ron, causing him to stick his tongue out at her. Harry chuckled at their playful banter before opening the elegant package. A chocolate frog actually jumped out and climbed up the window before deciding to commit suicide by jumping through the gap.

"Oh, that's rotten luck. They've only got one good jump in them to begin with." Ron said around the gummy worm he was eating.

"I got Dumbledore." Harry said excitedly, his face lighting up at the fact.

"I got about 6 of him." Ron said causing Lydia to chuck a jellybean at his face, hitting his square in the nose. The three newly minted friends continued eating and laughing until Ron mentioned that his brother Fred taught him a spell that would turn Scabbers, his rat, yellow. Absolute bullshit, by the way. Ron cleared his throat dramatically before a girl with bushy hair barged into the compartment, scaring the shit out of Lydia if she was being honest. She immediately sat up in her seat, her full attention now on this girl.

"Has anyone seen a toad? A boy named Neville's lost one." Her accent was thick.

"No." Ron said bluntly, causing Lydia to throw another jellybean at him.

"Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see then." She said, moving to sit down next to Lydia. Ron cleared his throat dramatically again before swinging his wand over the rat.

"Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow!" Ron spoke, zapping Scabbers. Yet the rat remained brown, causing Lydia to snort at her cousin.

"Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good, is it? Of course I've only tried a few simple spells myself, and they've all worked for me. For example..." She readied her wand in front of Harry's face, who looked scared shitless at the magical piece of wood. Her and Lydia had traded spots at some point during Ron's failure of a spell. "Oculus Reparo." Her voice was steady and she waved her wand slightly. The tape connecting the broken parts of Harry's circular glasses unravelled and vanished as his glasses were repaired.

"That's better, isn't it? Holy Cricket, you're Harry Potter. I'm Hermione Granger...and you are...?" She looked over at Ron who was stuffing his face with the leftover candy on the seats.

"That charming fellow is my cousin Ron Weasley. I'm Lydia Prewett." Hermione smiled warmly at the girl beside her.

"You two better change into your robes. I expect we'll be arriving soon. You can come with me to get changed." She and Lydia got up from the seat and turned to leave. "You've got dirt, on your nose, by the way, did you know? Just there." Hermione pointed out to Ron who looked over at Lydia who was dying of laughter.
