"Happy birthday to me..."
An empty room. Bar one, it's filled with no one. A tiny, sweet whisper and a candle make the room feel more homely. In turn, makes it all the more saddening.
"Happy birthday to me..."
A girl with [H/C] hair, [E/C] eyes and [S/C] skin placed a small cake on the table. Her purposely low voice singing voice laced with tiredness. There were bags under her eyes- she clearly hadn't had much sleep. But a small smile was on her face, and a soft look in her eyes. You wouldn't believe that just this morning she was causing havoc in the academy. She seemed so serene in this moment. Don't hold your breath- it won't last long.
"Happy birthday dear [Y/N]..."
A deep breath, a breath goodbye to the year behind her. A breath begging the year before her to be better. For her too be better. A lot can change in a year, this year shouldn't be any different. The candles light flickered and faded, and then left her alone in the dim room.
"Happy birthday to..."
A sob escaped her lips as she crumbled to the floor. Leaning against the table, back towards the cake, she covered her mouth. It's been like this for years now. And yet she couldn't bear to finish the song. She left on her own accord six years ago. Escaped more accurately. She closed her eyes and let her head fall back slightly, tears falling emotionless despite her closed eyes.
Her mind first flashed to her parents. Two sound ninjas. Two fully grown adults who didn't hesitate too attack their own daughter when ordered. She knew they hadn't a choice. She knew they didn't want to.
She didn't know how they felt about it. If they felt anything at all. She didn't know if her brother knew that had happened..
Or if he was simply told she was dead.
She shuddered and pushed the thought out of her mind.
Tomorrow. She would focus on tomorrow. She would force her mind to think about the teams being decided tomorrow. On how she had already become a chunin- and tomorrow everyone would discover that. She hadn't been placed on a team just yet, since she entered the chunin exams due to Iruka- sensei's persistent requests to the Third Hokage. When the Hokage finally agreed, her and Iruka went for ramen. They even invited Naruto- who became 90% of the bill.
Naruto... she often saw the boy. She knew he was a jinjuriki, but until she became a chunin she didn't fully comprehend what that meant. The boy had a beast inside him. An evil beast who ravaged the town she now called home.
And she still refused to believe that. He was such a happy boy, even now. He always heard what people said about him, nasty whispers, angry taunts and everything in between. But that boy never wavered at all. It was admirable to say the least. He didn't know she was a chunin despite joining her for the celebration because who would question free ramen?
Picking herself off the floor, she turned to face the cake again. She cut three slices, for three plates, and then one for herself. She sat down and ate.
The other three slices went untouched, and she went to bed.
Dreaming of tomorrow.
Preparing for the year ahead.

[A/N: Ey guys! Ciewra here, welcome! So I forgot to mention that this book is kinda mainly for females (I'm sorry boys!) because since it's my first book I wanted to place it safe. Hopefully in my next book I'll do both genders or at least attempt it. This book will go from naruto to shippuden, and maybe even boruto (tho probs not we'll see) and I have it all planned (yay!). The chapters are gonna begin a tad long, with the longest being chapter four (a background chapter), but from there they're gonna quicken up!
I'll attempt to update every week, on Sunday. Since this is just the prologue, I'll also upload chapter one. . Also [Y/N] will NOT be a jinjuriki or an Uchiha because I don't wanna tread on the ground of any other characters. That's not to say other characters won't have a link to them ;3. She's a strong independent character though, she don't need no other storyline to rely on XD. When the time comes, there will be two chapters called Transition I and Transition II which will be two chapters set in between Naruto and Shippuden, to y'know help the transition (eh eh ;3) And they're might be more depending ^^
OH AND HERES THE KEY

[S/C] = Skin colour

Also by the way I will describe outfits but they're not strictly just that. So if your a Muslim and wanna add a hijab go ahead. Or if your trans and have a binder have at it. Also they're will be girl and boy interests, as well as a chapter if you have neither. Feel like I should stress that, I want to be as inclusive as possible. If there's anything that you wanna recommend please let me know ^^
