Upside Down

He couldn't possibly be more pissed off and annoyed with himself than he was now. He could not believe that he allowed himself to end up in this situation. He knew nobody would ever let him live it down.

Azriel was stuck in a tree. Sure he could winnow, but with the nearest ledge being just below his head a few hundred feet away leaving him hanging upside down over a very far dangerous drop, he didn't want to risk it. His legs and arm were caught in the branches, leaving his free arm to wrestle the tree and free his wings.

He hissed in annoyance and struggled to break free, with no luck at all. He sighed in defeat. Azriel was going to have to call for Cassian's help.

"Cassian!" He screamed, knowing the bastard was flying around somewhere near, most likely wondering where his friend had gone. Azriel hollered his name again. Louder this time.

"Where the hell are you?" His answering call came from up above. He hadn't seen exactly where Azriel had fallen then. However, that left a lot more room for Cassian to tease him later on. He was hesitant to answer, knowing that in any minute now Cassian would be pointing fingers.

"Down here..," he called with a heavy sigh. Seconds later he spotted Cassian's wings on the ledge, his head facing the opposite direction. Cassian glanced around, still searching for Azriel. His gaze traveled around with flickers of confusion. He turned around, still not yet seeing Azriel.

"Alright prick if you don't tell me whe-" their eyes finally locked. Here we go, Azriel thought to himself. The two Illyrian males just sat there, the silence growing in between them. Ever so slowly, a sly, yet broad grin began creeping its way onto Cassian's face. Cassian doubled over, and began laughing so hard that the surrounding trees shook. He held his stomach, and dropped to his knees as he howled. Azriel rolled his eyes and sighed again. He remained hanging upside down, waiting for Cassian to stop laughing like a lunatic. After what seemed like hours, the long haired Illyrian warrior stood and launched himself into the air towards Azriel's tree.

"Now I see why Feyre had such a hard time learning how to fly," he commented, still giggling, amusement glistening in his eyes.

"Shut up prick and help me," Azriel punched him in the shoulder. The other male only giggled and proceeded to pry the branches apart. After a few moments, Azriel was finally free. He gave his friend a glare strong enough to bring an army to its knees and shot to the skies. "If you mention this I'll kill you." Cassian gave him the widest grin and followed.

A few hours after the sun had set, Azriel was casually walking to his room. On the way he overheard Rhysand laughing, Cassian too. He rolled his eyes in annoyance, and prepared for bed.
