After Wang Yao had returned home, he started to make herbal pills.
He had prepared ginseng, glossy ganoderma, Shanjing, and Guiyuan, etc. He had to fry the herbs first, then grind them into a powder, then put the power through the filter. Whatever didn't go through the filter had to be ground again until they could go through the filter.
All the herbs were turned into a fine powder and released a unique smell. Wang Yao packed the powder away in different bottles and marked each bottle. It took him all day to complete this.
The next day, he started to process the rest of the herbs.
He needed to prepare Moonlight herb, Ziyu, and irony plum blossom. These herbs could be damaged if Wang Yao fried them, so Wang Yao made a decoction out of those herbs.
It took him another day to complete all the work.
After Wang Yao had arrived home at night, he heard his mother talking about his uncle's pregnant wife again.
"Your uncle had his wife checked. It seems that she's pregnant with a girl. They are planning an abortion," said Wang Yao's mother.
"Girl? How can anyone tell it's a girl as she's only just gotten pregnant." Wang Yao frowned.
"She's almost pregnant for three months. Your uncle said she went to see a doctor they knew in the hospital. The doctor said it is a girl," said Zhang Xiuying.
"My uncle's wife is over 40 years old," said Wang Yao. "She won't be able to try for a baby again for at least half a year if she gets an abortion. I don't think her body can tolerate the abortion. I think you should talk to my uncle. It's not ancient China anymore. What's the difference between having a girl and having a boy nowadays!"
The fetus had grown to a reasonable size at three months of pregnancy. Having an abortion at three months would severely damage the mother's body let alone being disrespectful to the tiny life. Unless the fetus had a deformity or a disability, no doctor would recommend an abortion.
"Your uncle doesn't want the baby. Your grandparents also want a grandson," said Zhang Xiuying.
Wang Yao kept silent. He couldn't agree with his uncle. In fact, he was disgusted by his uncle and grandparents' thoughts towards the baby. But, he was the younger generation; he could only express his thoughts to his parents, and not even all of his thoughts.
"Mom, talk to them anyway. They should really keep the baby if she or he is healthy," said Wang Yao seriously to his mother after dinner.
"Okay, I will try to convince your uncle to change his mind," said Zhang Xiuying. Her son rarely talked to her so seriously.
"Yao is right. There is no difference between having a girl and having a boy," said Wang Yao's father, who rarely expressed his thoughts on things like this. In fact, his father rarely talked about family members on his Zhang Xiuying's side, especially his uncle.
Wang Yao's mother had three siblings. She had two sisters and one younger brother. Her brother had been spoiled since birth. All his three sisters treated him really well. Wang Yao's mother was the eldest of the family, so she had to take care of her siblings. Zhang Xiuying's elder sister's family lived in Beijing; they only returned to the village once a year. The other sister lived in Lianshan town center. Wang Yao's uncle was very reliant on his mother and his younger auntie. Although his father never complained about it, Wang Yao knew his father was not particularly happy with his uncle. Wang Yao's mother was also not particularly happy with his father's brothers. Both of his parents favored their own siblings.
"I'll stay on Nanshan hill overnight tomorrow," said Wang Yao to his parents after dinner.
