A Day In The Fox's Den

Screaming...

The screaming of my mother, my father, my sister... one by one.

All gone.

Me, the only one left.

Then pain.

Reaching out my hand helplessly to anyone who would come.

The only sounds around are my own screams.

Then, someone answers.

I woke up in a cold sweat, the memories coming back to me. A hand reached out to comfort me. The same one as that day... It gripped my forearm slightly in a comforting way.

I looked up to see my butler William by my bedside with a concerned look on his face. He spoke.

"M'lady, you were screaming. Are you alright? Did you have another dream?

I sighed and pulled his arm off me.

"It's nothing William, really. They are getting better, I promise."

He glared at me, "I know when your lying M'lady."

I shrugged him off and got out of bed with a groan. I shivered at the sudden cold feeling surrounding me as I walked across the floor to the opposite side of my room where my closet stood. I looked through my closet but nothing seemed to fit my mood.

"M'lady."

I looked over my shoulder towards William.

"Yes?"

He held up a (f/c) dress that looked like it reach just below the knee. It had white lace around the wrists and the neck and a nice white bow around the neck aswell, simple yet fitting. It seemed perfect yet somehow I had never seen it before.

"Wherever did you manage to find that?"

"If I couldn't find the perfect dress for M'lady, what kind of butler would I be?"

I scoffed and walked over to him, touching the dress. I was so soft, the perfect material.

"Very well, it will do."

After William helped me put on my corset and dress, he pulled out my favorite pair of black boots that reached my mid shin and a pair of (f/c) socks that reached slightly further than my boots. I sat on the edge of my bed as he grabbed my socks and slowly pulled them up my leg. I wondered what he was thinking about, although I was always wonder what he thinks. One can only imagine what goes on inside of another person's head.

As he pulled up my second sock he spoke,

"You seem lost in thought M'lady."

"It's just, well, I was wondering, what do think about most of the time?"

He just looked up at me and smiled,

"If I told you M'lady, I fear that would ruin your impression of me."

I shivered when he said this. I couldn't explain why but it gave me the chills, 'did I really even want to know?'

He finished putting on my boots and held out his arm,

"Shall we go fetch breakfast now? I assume Rose and Lucas have it prepared by now."

I nodded and was headed down the stairs.

-Timeskip to breakfast-

William put a letter next to my breakfast halfway through my meal.

"What is this?"

I grabbed the letter.

"It seems like a invitation from the Earl Phantomhive."

I looked over at him with wide eyes.

"Why would the queens guard dog chose to meet with me now? Why not earlier?"

"I haven't the slightest idea M'lady. Although I suppose it could be for a recent case he's working on, or perhaps maybe just to play a game of chess." He shrugged his shoulders and smiled.

I sighed, 'he's either desperate or he's up to something.'

I sat up from the table as I spoke,

"Very well, let's go William."

"Right now? Are you su-"

"William, I am your master. You listen to my orders without question."

He smirked,

"Now that's the authority I like to hear, as you wish M'lady."

We got ready and got into the carriage, William driving of course.

I stared out the window, however my mind was somewhere else besides the rolling hills outside.

All I could think of was, 'why would Phantomhive wait this long to contact me for help on a case? No, he wants something else, I just need to figure out what.'

Sorry this chapter was so short! I just needed to introduce some of the characters! The story will get better later, I promise! I hope you enjoy the story! I have the whole storyline planned out in my head but I don't know how good they will be in writing, so let's hope it turns out good because I'm really excited to write this! I'm also planning to make a Black Butler x Reader oneshot book so if you have any requests just leave them on this book, and if I get enough I'll make it it's own book.
