The serene darkness you call slumber is so peaceful. But it comes and goes so fast. Not this time.
The darkness is not cold. It's warm. Like the time of year when you can go outside and not need a jacket, but not be able to wear shorts? Yeah, just like that. Although, I'm not so sure when that is?
I didn't have anything on my mind. It was silent. No noise, nothing. Completely silent. Then I saw the light. The light shinning through my eyelids. Shadows moving, and the sound finally reaching my ears.
I could feel the sensation of little tingles on my fingertips. I moved my hands gripping the blades of grass. I rolled my eyes around behind my eyelids. Then opened my mouth slightly taking in a deep breath.
I slowly opened my eyes just a fraction of an inch and my vision was overcome with the rays of the sun. I stung and my eyes started to water. I lazily pulled my hands over my face and rolled onto my side. I groaned in annoyance and rubbed my eyes with the palm of my hand. I pushed myself with my left arm while blocking the sun with my right. I slowly but surly fully opened my eyes. Sure it may have taken like two or three minutes but hey, I didn't want to go blind.
I looked around me and saw other people. Some looked like they're dead, others just as disoriented as me. A few were even standing up. What the hell is going on? I continued to survey my surroundings and was a little confused. Who were these people? Who am I? Where are we?
Everyone was scattered in a circular formation around a huge metal square hole. Focusing on other features in the distance made me a little more confused and worried. The trees in one corner looked eerie and dark. The next corner were these pastures with a few cows and pigs. Across from it were these garden beds, more weeds then there were plants. And finally in the last corner was a rickety square building. It looked really run down, with a few boards missing.
The walls, they were terrifying. It looked like they went hundreds of feet high. There was ivy vines growing down the walls. And, on each wall, there was a gigantic doorway that looked like it was built for giants.
I looked at the people that were a couple feet away from me. There was a blonde boy that looked like he was having a hard time adjusting his vision from waking up. On the other side was a boy laying on his stomach, still unconscious. He had dark brown hair. what colored hair did I have? I picked up a lock of my hair and saw that I had a golden color with a few strands here and there that were a light brown.
I looked back over to the boy who was still unconscious. Why was he still asleep? I glanced around seeing everyone was starting to get up and come to there senses. I pushed myself up with my right hand and stood up. Instantly i got dizzy, my vision got dark around the corners and I started to sway but caught myself from falling back down. My lips felt numb and tingly so I pressed them together really hard to get the feeling back in them.
I put my foot right in front of the other and walked about 30 feet before i kneeled down to the boy. I put two fingers just under his jaw and pushed down, not too hard, to check his pulse. How did I know how to do this? I could feel a little, consistent pulse. This was good. I put hands under his shoulder and I heaved him over so he was on his back.
"Woah." I muttered under my breath. My voice was hoarse, because I probably hadn't have used it in a while. His face looked so soft. He was from asian descent and his face looked so calm it made me feel almost peaceful. Almost.
I coughed before I started to gently shake him and say "Hey, wake up." Nothing. He didn't do anything. I shook him a little harder this time "Hey, you need to wake up" Saying a little louder, actually i probably sounded desperate. This time I saw his eyelids flutter. He was waking up. "Hey, come one. You need to wake up" His eyebrows scrunched together and then he opened his eyes. And of corse they are a beautiful brown color. His pupils started to dilate and he sat up abruptly. The result of that was his forehead connected with my nose.
