It was a very warm day, and the sun was blazing hot. You could probably get a heatstroke if you stood into the sunlight for to long. So, because of the hot weather, the teachers suggested to let the campers swim in the lake. Actually, that's a lie. They were forcing the campers to go swimming. But since it was such a hot day, nobody was complaining. Or at least the minority was.
Jesse was lying on his bed, laughing at whatever he was looking at on his phone. It was possibly the hottest day of the year and he was sitting inside, with the air conditioner on max. Suddenly the door opened with a loud slam and Jess walked into the room, wearing a light blue bikini top and shorts. "Jesse!"
"Jess, I'm busy!" Jesse hissed like a cat. Jess facepalmed and walked over to her brother, holding a bag that had a towel and some other stuff in it."No you aren't! You don't have a life!"
Jesse sighed in defeat. He figured that arguing wasn't going to make his sister go away, so he decided to reason with her. "What do you want?"
"We're going swimming in the lake today and I was wondering if you'd want to come with." Jess said politely.
Jesse sat up and faced his sister. "Well yes, but actually no."
"Why not?" Jess asked. "It'll be fun, I swear!"
"I just don't like swimming that much, especially in lakes. Do you know how many people litter in the water? It's disgusting. So I have to pass."
Jess rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "Aww that's too bad. I'm sure Petra would be disappointed."
"Why? She's not coming is she? Wait, is she?!" Jesse yelled, trying not to think about Petra in swimwear but failing miserably. He blushed like a maniac and chuckled nervously, quickly putting his phone away. Then he sighed. He knew it was a bad idea to tell Jess about his crush on Petra.
"I'll get my swimming trunks.." Jesse mumbled. Well there goes his dignity.
"That's what I thought." Jess giggled before leaving the room. Jesse reluctantly opened his bag and got out his swimming trunks. He shot a glance at one of his roommates, who was lying on his bed staring at the ceiling. He seemed.. off.
"Hey Jesse, can I ask you something..?" Gill asked, sitting up.
"Sure, dude. What is it?"
Gill nervously looked down. "It's just, how do you know if someone.. likes you back?"
Jesse was caught off guard by the sudden question. He wasn't quite sure how to respond. "Are you sure you should be asking me, I mean Aiden probably-"
"Aiden would just make fun of me." Gill sighed. That's true, Aiden can never be serious. Even if he tried. "I don't know, I guess if they start doing things more than just friends? Why do you ask?" Jesse asked, noticing Gill's face heat up as he muttered: "Oh, no nevermind."
Jesse stared at Gill confused but decided to just shrug it off. "Okay..? Anyways, I'm going to hang out at the lake. You'll be fine on your own in here, right?"
Gill nodded, still flustered. Jesse walked over to the door and opened it, leaving the cabin.

At the lake, the campers were standing on the pier, all eager to jump in. Aiden stood up front, clearing his throat.
"Soooo.. who's getting in first?" Just as he finished his sentence he was shoved into the lake. Aiden quickly swam back up, his hair stuck to his face as he spit out water. "WHO WAS IT?!" Everyone pointed at Lukas, who was trying his best to keep himself from laughing.
"OHOHOH YOU ARE GOING DOWN BITch" Aiden shouted before quickly emerging from the water and picking up Lukas.
"WAIT DUDE I'M SORRY!" Lukas yelled between laughs, before being tossed into the lake by his frenemy. Most of the others threw their stuff down somewhere and jumped in as well.
"I'm surprised you decided to show up." Jess said while putting sunscreen on her arms. "I figured you'd just stay inside all day, like a vampire or something."
Jesse glared at his sister in a joking manner. "First off, rude. Second, I didn't have much of a choice."
A smile formed on Jess' face. "Ahw, don't be like that. You know you just can't say no to me." she giggled.
"You might be evil, but you do have a point there." Jesse joked. Jess gasped and playfully hit his arm.
"What? I meant it as a compliment."
"That's it!" Jess pushed her brother towards the lake and he stumbled to the edge, nearly falling in. But Jesse tugged on her arm and spun her around so she fell in the water and he was still dry on the ground.
"You were right, this is fun." Jesse laughed.
"And you say I'm the evil one?"
"Here, I'll help you up." Jesse said, reaching down towards the water to help his annoyed little sister up. She reached for his hand, and when their hands were merely inches apart, Jesse pulled his hand away and dabbed, causing Jess to fall into the lake again. When she swam back up Jesse could practically see the hatred burning in her eyes. He snickered quietly to himself and walked off.
"Jesse you stupid coward get back here!" Jess yelled after him, but Jesse was already gone.
