Chapter 2
Torture.
Pure Torture.
That's what I would have to face if I stayed home. My parents would be home soon and I am sure about being scolded for my misbehavior at the party. I didn't want to face them or hear another lecture. I had enough of them for the night. I wasn't scared of what they would say; it was simply that they'll never understand me. So arguing with them is totally and utterly vain.
So here I was outside Janet Jean's house with a backpack that lay by my foot. Yes, I'd been home and packed few of my clothes and some other necessary things I thought would be important for surviving by myself for about a week.
After a few moments I heard some shuffling from the other side of the door and a click sound signaling that the door had opened. And there stood my beautiful friend, Janet Jean. Her blonde hair was tied up in a messy bun. She wore loose black top and khaki pants and she held a can of coke in her hand. She was probably watching some movie, I guessed by her attire.
"Ivory, What are you doing here?" Janet asked breathlessly and surprised. She was aware of the fact that I was going to be at a party tonight. So I showing up at her doorstep was definitely the last thing she had expected.
"Well hello to you too," I greeted her sarcastically.
She eyed me for a second and then asked, "Trouble in paradise again?" Her voice was filled with concern. She knew me very well to guess what could have probably happened with me.
I simply nodded and then shrugged. In the mean time her eyes travelled down towards my foot, where my backpack lay.
"And you ran away from home too." She concluded to herself, sighing. She looked up at me and said, "Wait here, I'll be back in two minutes."
She rushed into her home, leaving me alone at her doorstep. I was totally confused by her actions. Thinking of something to reason her actions would be vain because she was just that unpredictable. So I did the only thing I could do at such a time; patiently waited for Janet to return.
After about five minutes, Janet appeared in the doorway, but this time she was wearing skinny jet black jeans, a blood red sleeveless loose top and red stilettoes. Her blonde hair weren't in a messy bun either. She had just left them open. She had applied some mascara and lip gloss too.
Now I was totally confused.
"Why did you change your clothes?" I asked her.
"Well, apparently you need to loosen up. You seem really tensed and upset. And since Ice Cream and Chocolates is too mediocre for you, we are going to a pub." She explained.
I chuckled at her explanation and commented, "In that case, lets so, soul sister."
We walked towards my Silver Mustang which I had parked in front of Janet's house. Janet opted to drive, seeing I wasn't exactly sane at the moment. Honestly, I was still pissed off and upset over everything that happened at the party. I tried my best to not think about all the incidences that took place, but they just kept coming back. Not just what happened at the party, but also all the harsh words my parents had uttered to me over the years. It just made me feel lonely and unloved.
"Ivory, I'm here to listen," Janet stated softly as she drove towards the nearest pub. I knew I could open up to Janet. I knew she wouldn't judge me. She knew me better than anyone, even my parents. Hell, I'm hundred and one percent sure that she is the only person who thinks I'm not a screw up. She simply says that, 'You're just broken.' I wasn't sure what she meant by that, but she won't even explain to me, she would simply reply saying, 'You'll understand when the time is right.'
