God. Emily was such a fool. She had been chasing after him for months, only to find out that- that-

She couldn't believe anything anyone told her... that was until after she saw the body. Emily sobbed, and when Elizabeth, her sister, found out as well, they sobbed with each other. Emily knew it was most likely for the best, but she couldn't help the way her heart yearned for him. She knew calling it love was an exaggeration of epic proportions, but she couldn't stop herself from saying she loved him. Which in hindsight, she did.

Emily really loved him. With all of her heart, in fact. She couldn't help the tears that sprung to her eyes when she thought about everything they could've been, what they could've experienced, she knew all too well what Freddy had wanted in his waking life. And now that he couldn't get it, even if he wanted it from beyond the grave, he just couldn't have it. And that fact broke Emily's poor heart. She wanted him to be happy. That was all she had ever wanted from him. And now? That possibility was gone.

Now she had to give a eulogy. Which she wasn't against giving, in fact, she was glad to be close enough to Freddy that she could. But she couldn't stomach the thought of confessing her love for him in front of a hundred people when he didn't even know himself. Her heart couldn't handle the pressure that was giving a eulogy at the moment. She didn't even believe he was gone until she had seen him in the open casket.

After the funeral was over, she walked over to the coffin. "Freddy, I'm so sorry..." she said as her mother walked behind her, stopping to hug her from the side as she heard the words exit her poor daughters lips. Emily let a single tear fall down her cheek, landing in the soft plush that made up Freddy's coffin. She leant down to give him what appeared to be a kiss on the forehead to anyone else.

"Now listen, I know you're not dead." Emily said in a hushed whisper.

"Yeah, no shit." Freddy responded.
