Day Five: Wishes

3 1 0

When you wish upon a star,

you can ask for many things.

Whether it be fame,

or a hundred diamond rings.

Perhaps even a person.

Or to become a being entirely different.

Here's to hating yourself,

enough to cause harm.

Here's to wishing for change,

and receiving the pain.

Here's to wanting to be anyone,

anyone but yourself.

Here's to wishing for a new life,

or perhaps,

a new beginning.

Here's to the tears that stain your pillow,

or the blood that dries along your arms.

Here's to your stomach that you despise,

and here's to what the mirror shows your eyes.

Here's to the sadness,

you can't control.

Here's to the utter loneliness,

in the depths of your room,

when the light turns dark,

when the sun meets the moon,

when the stars come out to sing,

a sad little tune.

Here's to the eyebags,

you get when your mind dissipating into madness.

Here's to the pony,

you never got for your birthday.

Here's to the money,

your mother struggles to get.

Here's to the friends,

you thought would last forever.

Here's to the love,

you never received.

Here's to the life,

you'll never have.

And here's to her,

the person you'll never be.
