Mystery With a Hint of Romance {Fred Jones}

After interviewing some employees, Fred and Stephanie had made their way back to the bar. There was an awkward silence between them, considering the fact that they wanted to be alone together. Sure, Stephanie went out of her way to ignore him but she couldn't help but let those feelings resurface. Fred had tried to deny his feelings to himself but he just couldn't.

"Fred?" Stephanie finally broke the silence between them.

"Yeah?" he responded. The two of them stopped walking and turned to face each other.

"I'm sorry if it seemed like I was trying to ignore you earlier"

"It's alright Steph. I'm sorry for acting like a jerk towards Peter. I get he's your boyfriend--"

"Yeah, I don't know how much longer that's gonna last" Stephanie saw Daphne and Peter walking down a flight of stairs, laughing and talking with each other.

"What do you mean?"

"I think he and Daphne like each other. In the castle, I saw them holding hands and ever since we left I saw them sneaking glances at each other" Stephanie found herself inching closer to Fred. "But, I don't seem to care, and I think I know why" Here she was, about to admit something to him she never thought she would.

"You gonna tell me why?" Fred asked, his face getting closer and closer to hers. She closed her eyes as his lips inched closer and closer to hers. Her palms were all of a sudden very sweaty and her heart was pounding against her chest.

"Fred, I think that I--" Before Stephanie could finish her sentence, or before Fred could press his lips to hers, Scooby hid under a table, screaming something about monsters. Stephanie rolled her eyes as Fred went over to talk to Scooby.

"Scooby, this is the most embarrassing thing you've done since you decided to clean your beans at Don Knotts' Christmas party!" Fred scolded him. Scooby chuckled at the memory. "How many times do I have to tell you? There are no such things as ghouls, ghosts, goblins or monsters" Fred's voice got louder and he stepped up onto the table. He began to address everyone. "Now listen up! There is absolutely, absolutely, no such thing--" It went dark, there was a loud roar and something crashed in through the window. Turns out Scooby was telling the truth. "Monster!" Fred attempted to run from the monster but he fell forward.

"Fred!" Stephanie shrieked. The monster picked Fred up by the leg.

"Scooby!" The monster roared and green mist came out of the monster's mouth. Fred inhaled it, and he began to pass out. "Save Stephanie..." Stephanie attempted to run over to try and save him but someone grabbed her arm. She saw that it was Peter.

"Steph, we have to go! Now!"

"But Fred--"

"We'll save him later, but right now we need to get to safety" Peter ran off with Stephanie to find Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby and Velma. Well, unfortunately for Velma, she lost her glasses in all the chaos. She was crawling around on the floor trying to find them.

"My glasses. I can't find my glasses" she said. She didn't realize that another monster had jumped in front of her. The monster picked up her glasses and gave them back to her. She put them back on and stood up "Thank you. Nice mask, bad breath" The monster picked her up. Velma attempted to take the monster's "mask" off by pulling on its face. She soon realized that it wasn't a mask and that the monster was the real deal. "Jinkies" The monster breathed in her face, causing her to pass out.

"Velma!" Shaggy screamed. He stood with Mary Jane. Peter and Stephanie found them.

"Stephanie, you wait here with Shaggy and Mary Jane. I need to go find Daphne and make sure she's okay" Peter said.

"No! The monsters already took Fred and Velma. What if they take you too?" Stephanie said. Peter didn't say anything else as he had already ran off. Another monster crashed through the wall.

"Come on!" Shaggy said. He grabbed both Stephanie and Mary Jane's hand and ran with them to safety. They dived behind a bar. The three of them peeked over the counter. "This is like the opposite of what I wanted to do today"

Daphne had found the Daemon Ritus sitting atop a counter. She went to go grab it but N'Goo Tuana tried to get it as well. Daphne grabbed it first and stuck her tongue out at him. N'Goo was then carried away by two people. She stuffed the Daemon Ritus into her purse just as Peter had found her.

"Daph! Thank god you're okay! We need to get out of here!" he said. Peter turned around only to find that he was face to face with one of the monsters. "Oh no" He was grabbed, knocked out and carried away by the monster.

"Peter, no!" Daphne screamed. She turned her head and saw Mondavarious standing behind her. She wasn't going to let anyone else she knew get kidnapped. Not on her watch. "Stand back sir! I'll protect you" She went into a karate pose. A monster broke through the floor, and grabbed Mondavarious. Another monster broke through the floor, attempting to grab Daphne but she swatted it away with her purse.

"Daphne! Run!" Stephanie shouted. Daphne and Stephanie, along with Shaggy and Mary Jane began to run away before any more monsters could attack them.

"Scooby Doo, where are you?" Shaggy yelled for his best friend.

Scooby was currently in a suitcase, attempting to hide from the monster that was nearby. He attempted to crawl away on the tips of his claws.

"Rym a suitcase, rym a suitcase" Scooby said to himself. The monster found him and took the suitcase off of Scooby. When the monster tried to grab Scooby, he stopped it and inspected the monster's nails. He gave the monster a manicure, before running away.

Stephanie, Daphne, Shaggy and Mary Jane found themselves in a hallway. It looked clear as there were no signs of monsters but there was also no sign of Scooby.

"Where's Scooby?" Daphne asked.

"I don't know but I hope he's okay" Shaggy said. The four of suddenly found themselves being pushed on a luggage cart none other by Scooby.

"Right here! Rooby dooby doo!" Scooby said. Two monsters appeared in the hallway and the cart was about to crash through a window.

"Scooby!" the four of them screamed. They ended up crashing through the window, but they did land safely. The two monsters jumped as well, not having as lucky of a landing.

Stephanie, Daphne, Mary Jane, Shaggy and Scooby hid in big vases while they watched the monsters dragging people away from the hotel. Stephanie and Daphne ended up sharing a vase as there were only four of them.

"I have a sinking feeling these dudes aren't brainwashed cult members" Shaggy said.

"What are they?" Daphne asked.

"Yeah, and what do they want with the college students?" Stephanie asked.

"We need to follow them"

"Say what?" Shaggy asked.

"Daphne's right. It's the only way that we can defeat the creatures, and save Fred, Velma and Peter" Stephanie said.

"That's sort of like my plan which is, let's get the heck out of here and let the creatures eat Fred, Velma, and Peter!"

"No way! I don't want anything bad happening to Fred!" Everyone turned their attention towards her. Stephanie blushed in embarrassment. 

"What about Velma and Peter?" Mary Jane asked.

"Yeah, them too"

"Stephanie is right" Daphne said, looking at her blonde friend. "You, Fred and Velma always figured out everything. And I know Peter hasn't been with us long but he's our friend as well." Daphne then looked at Shaggy. "It's our turn Shaggy. For the first time, they're the damsels in distress. Not me!" Daphne managed to tip the vase over, and since Stephanie was with her, she fell as well.

"Nice going, Daph" Stephanie said.

"Sorry Steph"
