Stephanie Benson is the cousin of Shaggy Rogers. She, along with her cousin, his dog Scooby-Doo, Velma Dinkley, Daphne Blake, and Fred Jones are members of a group called Mystery Inc. That is...they were.

Mystery Inc had made it back home. Stephanie's mother, Annette, knew that her daughter would be returning home today so she decided to surprise her at the airport. What she didn't know, however, is that the rest of Mystery Inc would be there as well. Stephanie was walking hand-in-hand with Fred when she heard her mother call her name.
"Stephie! Sweetheart!" Annette called.
"Oh no" Stephanie muttered to herself. She let go of Fred's hand when her mother wrapped her arms around her. "Hey mom" Stephanie hugged Annette back. That's when she took notice of Doug. Doug was Annette's boyfriend. "Hey Doug" Stephanie waved at him.
"Hello Stephanie" Doug replied, waving back to her. Annette finally let go of her daughter, and smiled at her. She then took notice of the others.
"Oh, I didn't realize that the gang was back together" Annette said.
"Like, it happened while we were on Spooky Island" Shaggy said. He wrapped his arms around his aunt. "It's good to see you Aunt Nette"
"Oh, you too Shaggy" The aunt and nephew let go of each other. Annette crouched down so that she was level with Scooby. She started scratching behind his ear. Scooby let out a satisfied sigh. When she finished scratching him, he licked her cheek in return.
"Rank rou, Rant Rette" Scooby said. Annette stood back up. She looked back over at her daughter and noticed that she was holding hands with Fred. Annette smirked to herself.
"So, when did this happen?" she said, motioning to their connected hands. Fred and Stephanie looked at each other and smiled.
"On Spooky Island..." Stephanie said.
"Finally!" Annette screamed out the word, making nearly the whole airport look over at her. She couldn't help it. She always wanted Steph and Fred together. "You don't know how long I've been waiting for you two to get together" She clapped her hands together. "Fred, you still look as handsome as when I last saw you"
"Well, thank you, Mrs. Benson" Fred said.
"Please, call me Annette like I always tell you kids to" Her attention then turned to Daphne and Peter. "Oh, Daphne! You're still such a beautiful lady"
"Thanks Annette. You still look so amazing for your age" Daphne said. Annette smiled and put her hand over her heart. She then moved her eyes to Peter.
"Peter, if my daughter is now with Fred--"
"I'm with Daphne now" Peter said, holding up his and Daphne's connected hands.
"Oh! Well, don't you two make a cute couple!" Last but certainly not least, Annette approached Velma. She took her hands in her own. She always had a bit of a soft spot for Velma. Everyone knew this but they knew Annette cared for them all the same. "Velma, I can't tell you how happy I am to see you. You're such a beautiful young lady"
"Aw, thanks Annette. You've always been so kind to us" Velma said.
"Of course! You're my Stephie's friends, and her friends deserve kindness and love!"
"Mom, besides surprising me, is there another reason you're here?" Stephanie asked.
"Well, yes. Remember the tradition we had, before Mystery Inc broke up? What we would do after you all solved a mystery?"
"Like, a big old fashioned, delicious family dinner" Shaggy said.
"Reah, ramily rinner!" Scooby said, licking his lips. It's true. Everytime the gang solved a mystery, Annette always wound up cooking them a big celebratory dinner. It was always more than they could end up eating (except for Shaggy and Scooby, of course)
"Oh, mom, we'd love that. It'll be like the good ol' days" Stephanie said. She turned around to address everyone else. "What do you guys think? I already know Shaggy and Scooby are on board"
"Annette's dinners used to be my favorite part of solving mysteries. I liked how it made us all feel like family" Velma said.
"Mine too. Plus, she makes awesome apple pie" Daphne said.
"My first dinner as a part of the gang? Yes please" Peter said.
"Annette, I think we've all agreed that we would love it if you made us all dinner" Fred spoke.
"Oh, wonderful! Doug, help them with the luggage and pack them into the Mystery Machine" Annette spoke. Doug nodded and began to help with the luggage. Stephanie and Peter stepped into help him. Everyone else began to follow Annette.
"You really kept the Mystery Machine?"
"Of course, Freddie. I had a hunch that you'd all be a group again, and besides, I don't own any other vehicle and the Mystery Machine is perfect after you've been grocery shopping"
