Its a beautiful sunny day. I pulled the package from the mail box. It said my name I bold print. "Elara Anderson" I was so excited. I rushed back to my house and show my mom. She got up very excited. "Open it up lets see if you're in." I feel the butterflies in my stomach and hesitate momentarily before opening it carefully.
I begin reading the letter aloud. "Dear Miss Elara Anderson, Rose's Creative Arts Academy for the gifted, is proud to except you as one of our students. All the informative papers are in your package."
I looked at my mom. Her eyes have tears. "Oh mom don't cry." we hugged. "My baby is all grown up and perpursuing her dreams. I'm so proud of you." My mom was so happy and supporting of me. She always been like this. Especially after she an my dad split up when I was nine.
Were so close. That might make things a bit harder at the academy since its so far away. I looked back into the package to see a plane ticket. Ill be tomorrow! "This is so soon!" my mom and I share a look of shock. This can't be right. I look at another paper. "We apologise for any inconvenience you may be having. If you have any questions you can call this number.
My mom grabbed her phone and dialed quickly. "This is Rose's Creative Arts Academy for the gifted. What are you calling about today?" said a lady's voice from the phone. "My daughter recieved an acceptance letter but the plane ticket says she's due to leave tomorrow." "I'm very sorry but that's the latest we can except any student due to school code. If your flight is canceled for any reason your ticket will be covered by us and you'll be excused." "thank you for your time."
My mom then rushed to my room. "Hurry sweetie we need to pack for your flight." I follow grabbing my suitcase. My mom seemed a little worried but tried to hide it. "We are going to have a special dinner to calibrate. You can pick whatever you want honey." I continued to pack my clothes and essentials.
We ended up getting a pizza and settled down to a movie. This would be our last night together. That was a little sad but I would see her for the holidays. I wanted to cry but I needed to be strong for her.
The morning was a rush. I wore my blue dress and put my long blond hair in a braid and we get into the car. Mom turned on the radio and we sang along to cheesy pop music. When we arrive mom hugs me goodbye. We cry a little bit but I wipe away my tears and tell her we will be ok. With one last hug we walk away in different directions. I look over my shoulder to get a last glimpse.
Then I board the plane. My flight was sure to be long and dull. I already miss my mom. I put in a pair of head phones and just try to think about the academy. I'm still excited about it. Its really hard to get in to and I some how made it. I'm so very lucky to be here. I should be so happy but I have a bad feeling in my stomach. I just need to ignore it.
I try to go to sleep. I wrap myself in my jacket and curl up to get comfortable. Soon I was asleep.
"Attention all passengers. This is your captain speaking. Please put on your seat belts. We will be landing soon." it's already over. I slept through the whole thing. I look out the window and see that it's very dark out. I step out of the plane and I see someone holding a sign that says my name. I walk through the crowd to them. He has a dark hair and deep red eyes. "Are you Elara?" "Yeah that's me." "I'm Dacota. The academy sent me to get you."
I followed him to his car. He's very mysterious. Not a smile at all. He wore a black hoddie and dark pants. He was speeding a bit but I said nothing. I wanted to be dis friend.
When we walk in I notice very few people are out and about. Then we were aproched by a tall boy with orange hair. He had a snarky face like that one annoying kid that thinks he's funny. "Oh a new arrival. Wanna go back to my room baby?" he said. I was completely shocked and couldn't say a word.
"Step off Milo." Dakota glaired at him emotionless. "I think I could take you." he said in a rude way. Dakota smiled "All twelve inches? I'm impressed." Mill's expression changed to anger. "Go shove it up your ass Dakota" "I could shove it up yours." and with a huff Milo walked away. Dakota looked at me and I giggled a bit. He gave me a side ways smile.
He took me to my room and I laid down all my stuff. "If you need me ill be in room 323." as soon as he left I got dressed in my pyjamas and laid down to sleep.
The bed was soft. Like a deep hug. It smelled like a rose and I laughed at the coincidence. I wonder what my classes will be. I'm nervous but excited to. I will just have to find out tomorrow.
