Chapter 14: Very much 'Mike'

Mike Dirnt is wonderful. He's the kinda guy who just wants to live in the moment even if he has a hard time doing so.

Mike's the kinda guy who put other people's needs before his own. He holds you through the night if you cant sleep. He doesnt judge if you've done something bad. He's just a lovely, bass-playing, coffee-loving dork.

He's very much 'Mike'.

But lately he hasn't been very 'Mike'. Sure, he seems happy, he jokes around like before. Whatever it is that's wrong, he's great at hiding it. But sometimes, I notice. Sometimes, it's obvious. When no one is talking to him.

He can look at the television. But instead of actually focusing on the screen his eyes fill up with worry and dread.

I know he's thinking about something else during those times. Something I dont know.

Look, I may be a bastard and cheating on my wife. But, if I'm gonna start a new relationship, a healthy one. I'm gonna do it right and talk about things.

Being honest.

That's good, right?

Whatever is bothering Mike I'm sure I can help him with. It might be just the weight of the whole situation weighing down on him. Trust me, its weighing down on me too.
