I screamed at the soldier carrying me until my voice was horse and I was out of energy. He carried me well beyond the frontline and to the back of the village. I grew wary and wanted nothing more the to see my dad. But he was gone. I let myself be carried without a word or movement. I could see fire raising way in the front and I knew we failed. They brought shame to my father and his sacrifices. It made me so angry, they let him down. We finally made it to a building and he set me down "listen inside this building is a back exit, civilians are being loaded into carts and being taken away. Go and get out of here, there will be a safe place." I nodded and watched as he took off towards the front gates. I wondered if there were any survivors down there, anyone still fighting. I turned and looked at the building, it was the run down dojo. This place was an escape route? I slowly shook my head and balled my fists, but I could not let anger run me. Anger leads to mistakes and mistakes lead to death. I would clear my head, avenge my father. I would take down this new clan when I was older, when I was ready. I looked up and went inside to see there was a lot of people in here. All going through a hole in the wall and out to the forest. Someone tapped my shoulder and I whipped around to see Nassi, and she looked worried. "Are you ok? You seem out of it and you where oddly late, what happened?" I bowed my head and closed my eyes, and looked back up at her. "Where's Curi? Why's he not with you? I'll explain when all of us are safe." She looked at me and just shook her head "he's already outside, he's reserved a cart for just us three, so we can talk in private." I nodded my head "take me to him." And so we were off, going through a forest to an unknown location. With no one to help us except the soldier driving the carriage and as the sun went down I knew I couldn't wait any longer. I looked up at my two friends and I knew they were waiting. We had been in silence for hours and the sun was down. I sighed and raised my head "listen, the reason I was late and what was happening.... they breached the gates as I'm sure you know. But... my father has been killed." They sat in stunned silence "Tenshi I'm..." Nassi began but I shushed her. "He is in a better place and may he watch over me, but now is no time for anger and grief for they lead you down the wrong path. I plan to move through the ranks and give my best, I'm going after this clan and avenging my father. I can not do this alone, I ask both of you to do your best, together we can take them down." They looked to each other and nodded, I knew they would follow me to the ends of the earth and yet again they are here to help. But this time was personal. "Listen we need to do our best, I'm sure we are going to one of the other factions and will continue training. We must rise to the top of our classes and become first trainees and first in the frontline. Will you follow me? There's a most definite chance of death." And as I expected they were in. "Good, now rest we will need it for tomorrow." We all nodded and laid down in the cart but we were all to restless to sleep. I had to many thoughts running through my head, all I could think about was my dad... how could I have let this happen. Why did he go? I could feel the rage boiling inside me, my veins started to pop out and my teeth gritted together. Breathe I told myself... i calmed down and relaxed, I couldn't get like that. It was no time for this I needed to focus. Mistakes would not be tolerated, I needed to be the best. I rolled over and looked up in the sky, the stars were always so bright. I closed my eyes and breathed calmly. They would show me the path in time, for now I would need to trust my instinct. I felt a hand touch my head and I jumped up, it was Nassi and she giggled. "You can't sleep ether?" She whispered "Curi is already asleep" I laughed. "Yeah well, he's always been the lazy one." She nodded and smiled, it wasn't often that she did but it was always nice. "You should get some rest Tenshi, you've had a long day." And with that she turned over. I laughed and turned over to sleep as well. I would need the rest. I was awoken when the sunlight hit my face, I slowly opened my eyes to see Nassi looking at me. She shook her head then sat up, and shook Curi. I sat up and tapped the guard "where are we?" Without looking back he replied "we are on our way to Hurai, they're our closest allies." I nodded and looked down at my legs deep in thought, if I could do this correctly, if I could make my way to the top. Just maybe I could avenge him, I'm sure he died honorably but, he shouldn't have gone so soon. I looked at the amulet the hung down my neck, and smiled. I raised my eyes and looked at my friends, Curi was just waking up. He was a tall, skinny fellow with electric yellow hair, green eyes, and an oddly bent nose from when he broke it. His face was also much rougher for being 14 and was very defined. He was always the reckless one of our group, always an ask questions later kind of guy. Nassi was a shorter girl, (at least under me and Curi) and she had long black hair and ice blue eyes that cut deep into your soul. It was like she could always read what you were thinking, never missed anything. she was very smart as well and decieving. her face was rather small and soft, kind of like a little child while she was also 13. Yes, the three of us were a good team. It would take time but we would get to where we needed. Only a matter of time.
