SUMMARY

as someone who tries to remain disinterested, kim yerim is left clueless as to why jeon jeongguk— who had everyone eating on the palm of his hand— kept on bothering her for days.

it isn't until she sees the four-toed dragon seal on his hand and an all-knowing smirk on his face does she figure it out.

PROLOGUE

"you're becoming reckless, gguk," jeon miran murmurs, eyeing her son as she sits on the ottoman. "jinyoung tells me that you've been pestering the girl for quite a while now."

the younger rolls his eyes, slumped on the armrest of the velvet couch he's been occupying for half an hour now, one leg stretched in front of him and the other still touching the floor.

he is the epitome of boredom and his dear mother had been nagging him ever since she came home from her flight.

"i wouldn't call it 'pestering', per se, but more of an observation."

miran raises a brow, tipping the cup of tea on her lips before taking a quiet sip; jeongguk takes this as a cue to point out his claim.

"she might probably spend her life with me until my last breath. the least i could do is make sure that she isn't someone who'll choke me in my sleep or set me on fire 'accidentally' for dragging her into this."

"i take it that you're not against this whole ordeal, then?" miran pushes on, a small smile playing on her lips.

she had thought that it will take months before jeon jeongguk agrees with such terms.

"i suppose," he says with a grin, a mischievous glint sparkling in his eyes when he looks at the lit fireplace. "when do you plan to officially introduce my betrothed to everyone?"

the woman stands up, sauntering over the open doors of the parlor but stops just besides jeongguk, her hand reaching out to place it on her son's shoulder.

"soon," miran replies softly, "very soon, my prince."
