-EVAN-

I saw Katherine seated at the table. This was my chance to bond with her, I thought. Glancing down to my left, I was still clutching on to Katherine's perfect gift. What better way than to open it up on my birthday to share it with my best friend, right? After all, she's the one who got it for me in the first place.

So I headed over to the bar to get two empty glasses. The bar was as busy as a bee hive and as noisy as one, too. Thankfully, I was able to cut in line as I wasn't ordering any drinks. The bartender was a man in his mid-thirties, -- tall and bulky and dressed in a black polo t-shirt. He was a busy man, so when I asked, he didn't make much fuss about it and simply handed me the two glasses.

"Thanks mate." Of course I remembered my manners.

Kat was now with Rebekkah, who had her head leaned on Kat's shoulder.

I walked up to the table and sat on Katherine's vacant side, placing the two glasses and the bottle on the table gently.

"We should taste this together." I said as I screwed off the cork of the Glenn McKenna 35-year. Katherine gave a sweet smile and simply obliged, while Rebekkah lifted her head to have a better view of what's going on.

"Tell me how it tastes like, and if it's good, I'll have some too," she said lazily to Katherine.

"You'll have to ask the birthday boy about that," Katherine replied.

"Oh, Evan wouldn't mind. Right, Evan?"

Shrugging in response to Rebekkah, I picked up the two glasses and handed one to Katherine.

"Cheers, Kat."

"Cheers, to the birthday boy."

Clink.

Wow. This is really smooth. I took another sip.

The more I drank, the more I wanted to drink. This did not disappoint one bit. In fact, it was better than anything I had ever imagined. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration. I did have a few drinks before this one which may or may not have impaired my judgement. Besides, I was bias towards anything 'Katherine'.

"Wow," said Katherine.

This got Rebekkah to lift her head in curiosity. Katherine handed her glass to Rebekkah, who didn't hesitate to sip from it. Her eyes immediately lit up at well.

"Nice," Rebekkah said as she took another sip from it.

"So, Kath..." I started, but Katherine was already getting up from her seat.

"I've got to let Adrian try some of this," her face full of delight and innocence. She was gone in ten seconds.

Rebekkah was nonchalant, and carelessly took my glass for another sip. I didn't care.

I watched as Katherine went up to Adrian, who had been chatting with his group of friends. How he dropped and stopped everything to give his fullest attention to her, and how their eyes twinkled with love and affection for one another.

"Can I tell you something, Evan?" Rebekkah brought me back to reality.

"W-What? Yeah?"

"You know Nate..."

"Wait, is this even happening?"

"What?"

"Okay, never mind. I'm not making any conclusions yet. What is it you wanted to tell me?" Rebekkah looked at me, dumbfounded.

"Shh!" she hissed at me, before continuing with her eyes glued to the glass on the table.

"Do you know...what kind of girls he's interested in?"
