ONCE

011  — HOSPITAL

Laura was sat in the waiting room of Beacon Hills Hospital. Derek had brought Braeden, the woman that they had found in the woods as she had been shot by one of the assassins and Derek told Laura to wait outside.

Laura eyed the vending machine down the hall as her stomach growled. She quickly looked around her to see if anyone was watching before she approached it. She didn't have any money with her seeing as she was always on the run so she decided to shake it hoping that something would drop.

"You look like you could do with some help?" A strange man approached her, his smile looked like he was trying to come off as friendly but to Laura it was just creepy.

She stayed silent eyeing the man to see what he was going to do. With one of her hands behind her back she slowly extended he claws as the man reached into his pocket. Just as she was about to pounce he open his hand revealing some dirty change that looked like it was covered in a black substance.

"Here you go" He held out his hand towards her "Sorry about the mess, I work in a...garage" He explained but it came out as more of a question than him actually knowing.

Laura didn't think twice about the strange man though as it didn't seem like he wanted to kill her. So she snatched the change shoving it into the machine and watched as it spat out her food. The man smiled to her nodding as he backed away down another hall.

Laura sat back down in a chair beginning to eat her crisps. A girl beside her was crying but Laura just gave her a look before turning back to her snack as she didn't know what to do in those situations as she was raised like a solider so she wasn't good with emotions.She looked at her hands and saw that the black goo from the change still lingered so she quickly wiped her hands on her jacket hoping to remove it.

The elevator down the hall made a noise and a woman dressed in scrubs walked out. Laura recognized her as the woman who had helped Braeden. Melissa smiles towards the girl, her eyes flickered to the black residue on her hands before she continued to the room where Braeden was kept.

Melissa, Deaton and Satomi were in one of the surgical rooms trying to see if they could find out what the virus was and if they could find a cure for it. Deaton looked at the mans brain before back at Melissa.

"I think I know what it is" He spoke "Unfortunately, if I'm right, and Scott and the rest are infected, it's not good. They're going to die without an antidote."

"Laura" Melissa said, finally realizing what the black on her hands was.

"The girl? What does she have to do with it?" Deaton questioned.

Melissa sighed "I-we've got to find her...I think she's infected too." She panicked before leaving the room.

Laura's vision started to haze as she wobbled trying her best to stand. Black residue came from her mouth as she coughed. She looked down at her hands which were now covered it in and all she could think about was how she should of been healed by now, but she felt like she was dying.

A nurse approached her looking concerned. "Sweetie, are you alright?" She asked her.

Laura looked up at her about to shake her head before her eye rolled to the back of her head and she collapsed.

A few minutes later, Laura woke up in a hospital bed. Derek, Deaton, Melissa and Satomi stood at the foot of it.

Laura sat up before touching her face and looking at her hands to see that whatever it was had gone.

"She's healed?" Derek said astonished. "Are you sure she was infected?" He asked Melissa.

"I saw the same thing that was on Satomi's pack member." She replied.

"Must be her mutation enhanced immune system that created antibodies to fight against the virus. It healed her." Deaton explained to them.

"Que?" Laura asked she still didn't know what had happened to her.

"Did you touch something in the woods? Is that how you got sick?" Derek asked her but Laura shook her hand.

"No. A strange man gave me change for the machine it had black stuff all over it" Laura told them as the three adults looked at one another.

"This wasn't an accident. Someone was trying to kill Laura."

"Which means that if this is happening at the school. We need to think fast" Deaton replied before looking back over to Laura. "If Laura managed to heal herself from the virus, then maybe I could try to use the antibodies in her system to synthesis a cure for everyone, since we don't know if Satomi was in fact infected or just lucky" He explained his plan to them and they all nodded in agreement. It seemed like the best plan they had at the moment.

Deaton began taking a sample of Laura's blood as Melissa rang someone from the school. As Deaton finished testing for the blood he handed it to Derek.

"I'm not certain it will work but if my theory is right, it will. You have to get that to the school now" Deaton told Derek who nodded before leaving the room with Satomi and Laura who was now fully healed.

"I have to get to the school" Derek told Satomi as they walked towards the elevator.

"What about the others at Lookout Point?" Satomi asked but Derek didn't get to reply as the elevator dings signaling its arrival.

A woman came from it pointing a gun at the three. Laura jumped into front of them knowing that she could heal from bullet if they hit her. As she covered for them Satomi ran forward and shoved an arrow into the woman's throat.

"I may have learned to control my anger, but I still know when to use it." She told the group, Deaton and Melissa joining them as they heard gun shots.

Laura sat up taking the bullets out of her shoulder and stomach. Melissa and Deaton watched in amazement as her wounds healed within seconds.
Laura huffed as she looked up at them. She just wanted to go home and sleep.
