i. Impulse
"I don't think we can be friends"
There's not a day that goes by without her feeling guilty about what she said to her on that fateful day.
Her mother always did say that she was too blunt, too honest with her feelings and that it'll someday bite her in the ass one too many times.
She didn't listen though, and when she came along and stood next to her, out of impulse, she'd say the first thing that came to her mind.
Anger, disappointment.
Feelings of not being good enough.
Her honest emotions had clouded her judgment, sharpened her words into daggers that tore into her intended recipient.
Oh, how'd she wish she could turn back time and make things right.
Till this day the guilt never left her, even after they'd bonded and she'd manage to let her worm her way into her guarded heart.
"Why so serious Yone?"
Snapped out of her musings, Yone smiled softly at the girl in front of her.
"Nothing, I was just worrying about something"
The girl in front of her pouted, staring at her, clearly waiting for more but when Yone just gave her another winning smile the girl finally relented.
"Maa, you worry too much! You're basically a genius, I'm sure you can solve whatever that's worrying you. Now come on, I'm hungry. Does ramen sound good to you?"
"Hai, Neru"
Yone grinned and nodded, standing up and grasping the offered hand, laughing as Neru quite literally dragged her outside.
Looking at their clasped hands, Yone thought to herself that someday that niggling feeling of guilt will diminish, replaced with the warmth that radiates from the girl in front of her.
Slowly but surely.
