It was snowing out, much heavier than this morning, when he went to put pick up some more beer. Czechia didn't like having to go out at night, especially when the weather forecast said it would be snowing a lot more then. He got to the three-bedroom flat he shared with his two roommates, Austria and Slovakia, and unlocked the door before stepping inside. He stomped on the mat to get some of the snow off. The front door opened up to an open space with an area for the entrance, the living room, and a bar that divided the kitchen about five feet ahead of him.
To his left was Slovakia and Austria sitting on the couch. Slovakia was lazily laying watching television and Austria was on his phone, probably texting his boyfriend, Switzerland. Czechia didn't bother to announce his return and headed straight for his room, since its not like they'll answer or acknowledge him really.
The Czech closed his bedroom door after turning the sign on the doorknob to "Do Not Enter," which was written in Czech/Slovak and German, and placed his drink in the mini fridge beside his nightstand. Czechia plopped on his bed with a sigh. It was one in the afternoon, and he was dead tired. He drowsily heaving the blanket out from under him and covered up, falling asleep almost immediately.

The sound of a ring woke him up, not a second after three hours. Czechia woke up grumbling in Czech on what could be waking him up at this hour. His phone on the nightstand was illuminating the room with its light. Czechia snatched up the device and quickly read what's on it.
'Invite to New Years party at December 31 to January 1, 11:00PM to 3:00AM, UTC+1. Click to view more.' Czechia stared at the invitation for a moment, thinking. It was December 31st now, and an invitation this late wasn't very surprising for him, as he was most usually invited last minute.
Well, let's see what the rest of it says, maybe it's gonna be different this time, he sighed and clicked on the notification. It opened up to a few more points of info, including where it was located. Apparently it was at a plaza in Germany. But that's not what caught his eye though. There was a message on the bottom that read:
'You may invite a friend of your choice, not limited to Europeans.' Czechia considered it some more. He sighed. It was only four o'clock now, so he had quite some time left.
"I'll think about it when I get up..." He grumbled tiredly and shut his phone off, dropping it back on the nightstand and rolling back over to return to sleep.

Once again, Czechia was woken up. But this time it was to movement around the house and some chatter. He groaned, covering his face with his arm in frustration.
"Can't a man get any sleep around here..." he grouched. The Czech checked his phone again. 10:20PM. "Ugh what are the fucking odds," he muttered. Deciding he'd gotten enough sleep, he lumbered out of bed and stumbled out of his bedroom. when he entered the living room the first thing he saw was Slovakia standing by the front door, presumably waiting on Austria.
"Come on, Austria! Your little boyfriend won't care how you look! I don't even care how you look! It's just a party!" Slovakia yelled out down the hallway. Some inaudible remarking echoed back in response. Slovakia sighed and noticed Czechia standing there in front of the other hallway, which has own bedroom had been separated off from the two, accompanied by only the utility room, a bathroom, and a linen closet.
"Are you coming too? You can ride with us if you want," he offered. Czechia thought about it, then sighed. He really didn't want to go, as it'd just be full of drunken people doing stupid things before midnight even hits. It'd also be pretty loud too, but something was pulling him, pressuring him to go.
"Sure I suppose. Let me get dressed first. I just woke up," Czechia replied. Slovakia nodded and went to sit on the couch for the now two boys to finish as Czechia left for his bedroom once more.
When he came back ten minutes later in a more presentable outfit and his beer, the others were already prepping to leave.

It took about 45 minutes to get to the plaza. They got out of Slovakia's car. Austria quickly left them alone to find Switzerland, who he managed to convince to come. Slovakia grabbed his stuff and looked over at Czechia.
"You gonna be okay here?" He asked. Czechia nodded and looked at the plaza. They'd set up lights and other decorations around the place. "Okay, just don't get too drunk. Don't wanna have to drag your ass back home," Slovakia laughed and stood up. "Well, have fun. I'm gonna be hanging out with my friends over there if you need me." He pointed to Poland, Hungary, and Ukraine waiting near the entrance and left for them, leaving the Czech man alone. Czechia stood there for a few moments longer before sighing out and joining the others in the plaza.

It had been a half hour now, making it 11:55, five minutes until midnight. Czechia had already downed his beer and had gotten some more at a merchant-like stand that sold different alcohol, and was now piss drunk. This meant he was sitting on a spinnable stool with head laid down sulking about his lack of friends.
It was at this time at almost midnight that he realized how lonely he really was. There really wasn't anyone that wasn't too crazy, too boring, too expressive, all of the above, and more for him, that includes the non-European people he's come across at the party. Czechia was tired of Europe. It was a rat's nest there, and everything is crazy. People resent each other yet still visit each other and act like the closest friends you'd ever seen, and that confused him.
Yeah, he was a part of EU and he still attends the occasional meetings, but he may as well not. Nobody even listen to him due to his country's small size. Besides, nothing really gets done there anyway and don't even get him started on Articles 11 and 13. Due to this, he doesn't really pay much attention anymore, and couldn't answer a question if asked even if he tried.
Czechia sighed out and sniffed softly. He sat up and turned in his stool to survey the open space of the plaza a bit. He hadn't really found anyone interesting enough or that shared enough common interests with him to talk with. It was 11:57 now, and he sat down his almost empty glass and stumbled out of the stand. He wandered aimlessly about the public space without any exact destination.
It was 11:59 now. The Czech's eyes found their way to a nice-looking man with vertical triband flag and a red maple leaf in the middle. He was chatting away with what looked to be America and UK, and his voice, oh, his voice...it was gentler and had more flow than the calming lullaby your mother sang to you as a baby. He was dressed in a nice brown jacket, the thickness and fluffiness perfect for northern climates, and neatly ironed brown pants, smoothed to perfection. His gaze was so soft and welcoming, it nearly brought Czechia to tears- no, it did. The alcohol made him more sensitive to these sort of emotions, causing him to be quite the emotional drunk, and with his loneliness, that emotion that always showed was sadness and sorrow. Czechia sobbed and stumbled over to the angelic-looking stranger, not really caring about the other two who took to surprise when he caught him in a sudden embrace. Czechia buried his face into his chest and sobbed. The man, who was beyond confused, awkwardly hugged back. UK cut in after a moment's silence.
"Hey, chap, uh...are you okay?" he asked, putting a hand on Czechia's shoulder.
"Anděl...anděl..." Czechia kept muttering over and over. America chuckled.
"Looks like you have yourself a fan there, Canada!" he remarked. So that's his name then? Czechia thought.
Canada sighed and shook his head, looking down at the Czech man, who only came up to his collarbone, with a gentle smile on his face. "Well, you're being pretty cute, aren't you? I wonder who you are?" Canada thought aloud, to which Czechia was too overridden by emotion to really react much to it. UK squinted a bit at him as America pondered on it as well. The countdown began to start, starting at 10.
"I think...uh...Cz..Czecho..slovakia..?" the Brit murmured. Czechia lifted his tear-stained face to give him a death glare. America snapped his fingers. 5 seconds left.
"Czechia! That's it! You're Czechia, aren't you?" he exclaimed. Czechia grunted and nodded lightly in confirmation Canada then leaned down slightly and gave him a proper hug.
"Well then, Czechia. I'd feel quite honored to have you as a friend." The countdown ended and everyone cheered, with some couple engaging in a New Year's kiss. Czechia sniffed and hugged back tightly.
"Thank you..."
