Danny's POV

I finally caught up to Hudson in the hallway. He was fast when he wanted to be. I grabbed him by the arm, almost dragging him to a stop. He WOULD tell me why he was acting like a nutjob in Mr.Price's class.

"Alright, spill" I commanded, crossing my arms and tapping my foot impatiently. Hudson looked like he was going to be sick. A mixture of fear, worry, and anger washed over his pale face. The tardy bell rang, signaling the begining of class and that we were late.

"Come on, dude. We're late for class" Hudson said, trying to get out of explaining himself. I scoffed, fat chance!

"We can ditch" I said in a tone that made sure he knew there was no room for refusal. I might have been a little overbearing, but Hudson has never acted this weird before and as his best friend and future Beta, I think I have a right to know why. He opened his mouth to protest, but I raised an eyebrow, and he sighed, giving up. He slid down the green and white lockers, landing his butt on the tiled hallway floor and leaned his head back against the lockers with a big sigh.

"All I can say, man, is that I'm in some trouble" Hudson said vaguely.

"Haha! What happened, dude? Did you get Natasha pregnant?" I guessed.

"No, dude! We've never even done it! She keeps trying to convince me to, but as you know, Dad would flip out if I didn't wait til I found my mate. Plus Natasha's annoying" he exclaimed.

"True that! But that still doesn't explain why you're in trouble" I inquired.

He exhaled a sigh again, then spoke in a quiet whisper as if he were embarassed and didn't want anyone else to know his secret, "I found her." My brow furrowed, showing my confusion.

"What? Found who?" I questioned.

Hudson looked up at me,"Her, dude. Her" he replied as if pleading me to understand. I took a minute to digest what he told me. Suddenly realization flashed through me, and my eyes widened to the point where I honestly thought they would pop right out of my head and onto the hallway floor.

"Holy crap, dude! You found your mate!? Holy crap!" I practically shouted all in one breathe. Hudson nodded solemnly.

"Oh my God, dude! How do you know?" I asked.

He shrugged,"Well my vision went black except for around her and then when it cleared up everything was in sharp-focus, just like Dad said. And all I feel right now is the need to be with her and protect her."

"Is she hot?" I asked, a smirk slowly spreading across my face. Oh, he was to recieve much teasing later, mainly from me.

"Beautiful" he replied, then his eyes bugged out. "I can't believe I just said that" he groaned and put his head in his hands. I snickered as I plopped down next to him and clapped a hand on his shoulder reassuringly.

"Dude its alright. What's this girl's name?" I asked. He looked away, down the hall.

"Katie McAllister" he replied looking back at me. That name sounded so familar. I concentrated on it. Oh no!

"Oh crap! That new girl that Trent is engaged to!?" I yelled in sudden recognition. Hudson was silent for a minute, then stood up with the speed that belonged to a cheetah.

"What!?" he screamed so loud it left my ears ringing as if I just got off a plane. Obviously he hadn't heard yet.

"Yeah, I heard this morning that some new girl named Katie McAllister was getting married to Trent" I explained standing up as well.

"Oh my God! You know who she is right!?" he asked.

"Well yeah, she's your mate and Trent's fiance" I explained. A pained expression danced across his face at the word "fiance" but was soon replaced with a hard mask again.

"And the daughter of one of the Alpha Elders!" he cried.

"What? No way! Which one?"

"The one who was murdered last month! Remember? McAllister was his last name!" he said and realization crashed onto me like a ton of bricks.

"Oh" I replied dumbfounded. Man, this is turning into a freaking soap-opera!

"Yeah. But that doesn't even matter now cause she's getting married, and I hope her and Trent have a happy life together. I'm done" he said turning around and briskly walking back down the hall towards the parking lot.

"But you don't mean that" I shouted after him.

"Oh, but I do!" he called back as he walked through the glass front door.
