Adrian stopped in front of me, I was standing under a shelter because it seemed like raining. When he got out of the car, I had a sudden urge to run. Adrian looked so devastatingly ruthless ... he was one of those men who could carry out a jeans and shirt sexily. He stopped in front of me.
"Hi, Temperance." He said in his supple voice. I reminded my brain that I wasn't supposed to talk to him and just nodded at him.
"Amber cannot come to take you to the Mirac Yard so she asked me to take you and I'm her representative." He smiled hopefully but my heart sank.
"Why can't she come?" I demanded and Adrian gave me an aloof smile.
"Uh ... I think she got in a fight with the florists, she wanted jasmines cancelled and orchids selected but the florist hasn't done that." As soon as Adrian said that, I nearly fainted at his feet.
"Oh hell, I was supposed to tell them, but I forgot." SHIT! Amber will kill me for this, how can I forget such a thing? Oh yeah the reason was in front of me, giving me that detached smile again. I hated that smile, the warmth that I had seen in his previous smile was lost. I shrugged, why did I care?
"Okay, thanks for telling me." He wanted to act distant and unfriendly than so could I, I started to move when he caught my arm.
"Look Tempy, this is important for Amber, do this for her." He said. I jerked at my arm and his hold tightened painfully.
"I know that Mr. Adrian and so I'm going home so that I can get my car and go to the yard to check, I don't need you there, I can manage." I said.
"Like you managed the florist?" He demanded. Wow that hurt.
"Yes, damn you. It was because of you I forgot, I was too busy looking after you in the hospital that I forgot about those damn flowers, now let go off me. I don't want to do any more mistakes than I already have." I retorted.
"Amber asked me to take you there and that's final." Adrian said.
"Oh yeah and how do you propose to that?" That was a challenge and then I saw the glint in his eyes. Uh-oh.
"Well you will just have to see." He said and then started pulling me towards his car, I ranted but he wouldn't let me go.
"LET GO!" I shouted at the top of my voice and just then it started raining, and not simple drizzling but pouring, I was soaked in a minute. Adrian finally let go and I ran back to the shelter.
Once in I looked at Adrian and went immobile. He had his hand stretched and he was soaking in the rain, his mouth was curved and he had the smile that I had recently learned to love, it was no more distant, he was happy.
"Adrian, you'll get sick, come in." I shouted at him and he looked at me.
"You'll never get this chance again, come out and join me." He shouted back, he looked like a kid who had discovered his first soccer ball.
"No, Adrian you're being silly." I shouted and he started coming towards me, I sighed in relief, at least I wouldn't be responsible for his death. He kept walking and walking and wouldn't stop, I backed off but he just wouldn't stop walking.
"What are you doing?" I demanded, I was flat against the wall.
"Nothing, I'm just coming in as you asked me to." And kept walking.
"Stop." I said and raised my hand, he took it and jerked me ahead.
"For once in your life, believe me Tempy and come out with me." He looked straight in my eyes and my mind went blank, I stared at him.
