Library Love
I was always that girl who loved books more than people. That one person who was always bullied but would never hurt a fly. I was that one girl who hid in the library before school, during study hall, during lunch and after school just to avoid being called names and pushed around.
I'd wait 45 minutes after school before I would go home, that way nobody was really left at school and I could get home quickly without anyone noticing I was leaving.
I was browsing the fiction section at the back of the library, trying to find one book I had not read yet. I picked one up, reading the back. I had decided it would be an interesting one. As I went to turn to walk into the next aisle of books I bumped into someone. "Excuse me, I'm sorry." I muttered walking passed them not looking up.
I went into the next aisle scanning the shelves. I found one more book, walking to one of the tables in the corner I sat down and began to read the prologue of one of the books. Moments later, the same person, I assume, sat down at the table. Neither of us spoke, I continued reading and he just stared, at...me..?
I didn't know what to say if anything. I looked up at him, for one of the first times. He had curly brown hair, little kinks of his hair across his forehead; his eyes were a light captivating blue. Wow. He looked perfect I thought. I've only ever had a boyfriend once, when I was five, as a game.
I knew we could never be. He was so him and I was so...bleh. Neither of us spoke, just continued what we were doing.
A few minutes before the library closed I got up and checked out my books. I started walking down the hallway to the lobby to leave. Footsteps echoed mine in perfect time. I turned to look behind me, and there the most perfect man was again. I smiled and his reflected mine. His teeth were perfect, his smile was perfect, he was perfect.
All I could think about walking home was him. All I could think about doing my homework was him. I didn't sleep at all, because I was thinking about him.
The next day I spent the morning in the library, per usual. This time I stood in one of the back corners, a usual spot. The person showed up again. "Hi." He said smiling as he walked over to the computer that was only a few feet from me. "Hi." I said smiling back at him.
"I'm Jay." He said as he logged on.
"Kaitlyn." I said smiling up from my book.
He smiled back at me. "That's a pretty name." He said hitting a few letters on the key board.
We talked for a little bit over nothing before school started.
Everyday for 2 weeks we unintentionally met up in the library, had our short, yet meaningful conversations and I completely fell for him.
One day as I was standing in the corner before school Jay walked up to me smiling. He took my book laughing. "You've read every book on the planet, where can I find one about how to ask out the most gorgeous girl on the face of the earth?" He asked setting down the book on a table holding my hand
I blushed as he took my hand in his. I had a feeling he was talking about me.
"Kaitlyn," he began. "I think you're gorgeous and one of the sweetest most perfect people on the planet. Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked me
"Yes, of course." I said smiling wrapping my arms around him.
We had dates every afternoon in the library looking at random books just for fun.
I'm the type of girl that lives in the library, but I never thought that I would meet the love of my life there. Never did I ever think that I would fall in love with someone because of books.
Meet me at the bookstore, Jay.

The last line is something that my chorus teacher all of middle school said to her boyfriend before she passed away.
