I braced for a tight hug from her. Gone for 6 months now here, in my arms my mom! I smiled at her, she did so as well. "How've you been sweetie?" She asked me. I always lied, no matter who it was. "Good," I said firmly.
Brent stood there smiling, he seemed happy to see me smiling. "Mom this is Brent," I said to her. "Oh hi, you must be her boyfriend? Nice to meet you!" She said. "Mom!" I exclaimed. She giggles at me, Brent blushed.
"Brent and I just met today. We have every class together." "Aw, that's so cute!" As she said that the door to our house slammed open. My drunk father busting out. " SAM! EMILY INSIDE!" He yelled.
My mom grabbed my hand. "Jack we will be in there soon..." She said. He walked down the stairs, my mom pushed me behind her. My dad whispered something in her ear so soft I couldn't hear.
Brent stood very confused and very shocked. "Jack...I said we will be in there soon..." My mom said. My dad looked with fire in his eyes stomped up the stairs back to the house door. Opened it with a huge force and slammed it shut as he walked in.
My mom turned around and faced me. She smiled and kissed my forehead. "Hunny...I want you to go out with your friend..." She said almost like she was fixing to cry. She handed me some money and sent me on my merry way.
As Brent and I walked away I turned as she had a few tears in her eyes she walked inside. Brent didn't ask questions, which I would soon thank him for. "Wanna go get dinner?" He asked. I quietly nodded. He smiled and we walked to the nearby cafe.
Brent and I walked into Main Street Cafe. We took a seat he pulled my chair out for me and smiled. I sat down, we ordered our food. I got a chicken caesar salad with a passion fruit tea. rent got grilled chicken salad with almonds and cranberries with a sweet tea.
"So...I guess it would be nice if I told you what happened back at my house..." I said looking down. "You don't have to its ok..." He said reassuring. "I think I owe it to you..." I said he nodded and I began telling him everything.
My brother, my best friend, my mom, my dad, the drinking, the texts, the days of crying of wanting to end it all.
You could hear a pin drop after I told him. We were the only ones in the cafe at this time. Time turning just 11 past 8. He took my hand so gently and held it. "I'm here for you...no matter what..." He said.
I smiled and he did so as well. Then raging through the doors was my drunk father. "EMILY!!" He yelled. I knew what was going to happen. He walked over to me. Brent stood up, "Sir I can-" Just as Brent said that my dad shoved him to the ground.
Taking my arm so tightly I could feel his nails in my skin. I yelped, he pulled tighter. Brent stood up but was too late. My dad had already taken me out of the restaurant. Everyone standing there in distraught at what they witnessed.
Brent kicked the chair in frustration, he thought he could save me. Little did he know of my fathers power over me.
As my father forced me into the door of our old house I fell to the floor trying to scramble to my feet he grabbed me. Out the corner of my eye, I saw my mom. her eye bruised, her lip busted, her arms scratched.
Then I looked at my fathers face a huge cut from his left ear to his nose, maybe from where my mom tried to fight back. Judging from her appearance she didn't win the fight.
My father grabbed me by the arms, I struggled. "GET OFF OF ME!" I yelled, he just got angrier. I kick his leg he grabbed my hair and pulled it.
"AHH!" He forced me to the ground laid my hands above my head, he slapped me across the face. I spit in his face. He jumped back I ran to my mom. She grabbed me and held me tightly. "Leave her be!"
My father got closer and closer he pulled his arm back.
**BANG**
The door slammed open.
