Rebound

Chapter One: Rebound
I sat in the corner of a long apartment hallway by the elevator, debating if I wanted to leave or not. All my things were still in his apartment and I hardly felt like I could stand.
My boyfriend, Alex, had just broken up with me and kicked me out all at the same time... He claimed that I was always working to much and never made time for him... When, in all honesty, all my free time went to him. I don’t get a lot of free time. I’m working all day at two different jobs, and when I finally get home, I pass the fuck out. I spend all my time with him on my one day off, and even that is difficult.
Now I’m alone. Nowhere to go. Nowhere to stay. My parents kicked me out the moment I turned 18, and I’ve been living with Alex for a year now... Even before we started dating he let me crash with him. I’m only 19 now and trying to figure out what to do with my life. Beg for a second chance, or find another person to crash with... Even though I don’t have any other friends...
I continued to sit in the hall and wipe away the smeared makeup off my cheeks, and tried to compose myself. In the midst of my tears, I ignored the people passing by me and coming in and out of the elevators.
“Hey” I heard someone saying, and I prayed they weren’t talking to me. “Hey, Waters.” The man addressed me by my last name. I looked up at him slowly, wiping away more of my smeared eyeliner.
A young looking guy, probably in his twenties, stood in front of me, with concern covering his face. Brown greasy, longish hair, and the most wonderfully brown eyes.
“What’re you doing out here? Are you alright?” He asked. That was not what I expected in any way. I thought he was going to tell me I had to leave. “H-..How do you know my name?” I choked out. He smiled.
“I don’t. Just your last name. I’ve received your mail by accident before. I live just across the hall.” He explained, easing my mind a bit. I don’t like when people know me and I don’t know them. It makes me feel... I don’t quite know.. But I don’t like it.
“You didn’t answer my question. What are you doing out here? What’s wrong?” He asked once again.
I looked around, trying to figure out if anyone else was around. Everything was still blurry from the tears and makeup running through my eyes, but it was easing up a bit. I looked up at the man with a sad glow in my eyes.
“It’s a long story.” I told him, even though it wasn’t.
“I have time.” he retaliated, and reached his hand out to me to help me to my feet.
